This week was the annual reminder of how much I hate cleaning windows. It should probably be a semi-annual reminder, but the chances of that happening are pretty much nil.
The thing is, our house has a ton of windows. I can see 9 from where I'm sitting; I suspect there are about 40 total, but I refuse to count, because it'll just be depressing. And with some of the overhangs, getting to the second-floor windows is a pain in the ass.
So yesterday I got out the scrubber and squeegee and did the outside of the first floor windows, then did the inside. It took a while, but that's the easy bit. Today it was time for the second floor. I can't reach those to use the squeegee without standing on a ladder, and I don't do ladders, so I usually end up using this Windex stuff that you connect to a hose and squirt on the windows. It's a horrible waste of water, and I feel guilty every time, but it works pretty well and saves me from breaking my neck.
And after 15 years in this house, wouldn't you think I'd remember to do the second floor windows first, because a bunch of first floor windows always get messed up in the process? Apparently not. So after finishing the second floor I got to redo about half of the first floor.
*sigh*
I'm now drinking a big glass of water, because it's 88F outside and humid, then I'm going to do the second floor inside, and then the fucking things are done for another year, thank heavens.
(OK, it's now later. I had the water and finished the windows and am now waiting on a pizza.)
Let's see, what else.... Matt's car needs a new engine, which isn't going to do our checking account any favors. If I'd known that I might have wanted on the new laptop, which is settling in nicely, at least. I'm still dithering about going to Lubricus, which is only two weeks away, because of some scheduling things, and, now, the new engine. It would be nice to have a weekend away, though.
Oh, and I'm completely confused by Doctor Who. Seriously. Not even trying to guess what's going to happen next.
