This coming week I'm suposed to be working at a brand new Target in Stanford CT. Hotel accomidations as well as allowed spending money for food will be provided for several elected team members from available Target locations. I will not be able to bring my computer because its not a laptop and there is no internet set-up to use. So, I'll be without internet for that entire week. I leave on Sunday and return either that Saturday or the following Sunday.
I finally got a haircut today, it was getting quite long, but now its back to being normal for me, nice and short and clean cut. I also shaved off my goatee that I had started, because I just wanted to, and to go along with my fresh haircut, I figured it would look good, which it does.
After my haircut I decided to rent a movie, which I've been waiting to see because of what people have said about it. One personal experience said, "When I saw that in theaters I had nightmares for a month afterwards!" Its said to be the scariest movie of all time, but with my as a critic, I'd say there is lots of room for improvement. And this was the extended version that 'you've never seen' as the dvd tells you. I never saw the original, but the remake was done in 1999 I believe. The major part of this remake was a scene that I'd been waiting to see and it turned out to be literally a 3 second scene, if that! Of course by now you all know that the movie I rented is none other than THE EXORCIST! I wasn't at all scared and for this to be the scariest film ever made...doesn't say much for the movie. I think it was decent with a good plot, but I just had higher expectations for it. And that extra scene that I assumed was in the original, was the special scene called Spider Walk. Which shows the possesed girl walking backwards down the stairs head first. This is what really caught my attention, so I watched it a few times over to see how it was done, when I paused it the first time I could see the strings that suspended the person so they could do this safely. But later when I dug up the info on it, I found out that it wasn't the actor playing the little girl(Linda Blair), it was a paid extra who is a professional contourtionist! How cool is that. Recently a friend of mine let me borrow a dvd that was said to be the goriest movie ever made. I must say, this one at least holds upto its reputation. DEAD ALIVE is the most gruesome display of unnecessary gore taken far beyond all imagination that you can comprehend with 100% of your brain. There is a scene near the end that is legendary even today with all the special effects out there. The main character ties a rope to a lawn mower and uses it as a shoulder strap, which he then picks up the lawn mower and holds it vertically to plow through a crowd of zombies and literally MOW THEM DOWN! Not only does he cut through the crowds of people, but the camera doesn't cut away or switch to a different angle, you can actually see everything, and even I don't know how it was done in real life!
