Welcome once again dear reader, to the inane stoaty ramblings that eminate from my inner sanctum, or if you prefer, my fingers.

The first order of business (strange word business, pronounced bizness, but looks like it should be pronounced bus e ness) is to start the poll without a poll:

What is your favourie Arnold Schwarzenegger film?

For me it is Commando. A piece of cinematic genius, showing off Arnie's amazing puntastic stylings, far too many guns and things that go bang to be necessary, all ably assisted by Vernon Wells with his amazing 'tache and chainmial vest combo. Plus it has the obligatory appearance by Bill Paxton as miscellaneous radar operator, and a firm favourite of oneshallstand 's, the mighty Bill Duke.

The next thing is to share my recent observations in the local multiplex. First up is the trailer to Dark Water, which looks alright, but is it just me, or does Koji Suzuki (the bloke who wrote the novel on which the film was based, who also did The Ring) have a bit of an obsession with small children and lots of water? Another question that emerges from the trailer is: If you find out the apartment above yours has been deserted for years and then suddenly starts flooding your flat, do you:
  1. Go upstairs to explore the abandoned and flooded apartment?
  2. Phone your landlord and/or a plumber and let them sort it out?

I'd go for 2 myself, but I suppose that would make for a less interesting film. Finally on this film, if I was Dougray Scott I'd be really pissed off (plus a lot richer, but I'd take the rough with the smooth). Imagine the credits, Academy Award Winner Jennifer Connelly, Academy Award Nominated Tim Roth, Academy Award Nominated Pete Postlethwaite, critically acclaimed director Walter Salles, Dougray Scott, Academy Award Nominated John C Reilly... you get the picture.

Next up, The Descent, or as I prefer, When Spelunking (great word) Goes Bad - A Neverending Journey into TERROR!!! It's a UK horror film from the people who brought you Dog Soldiers, so it could be alright.

Finally, Stealth, which looks like a combination of Top Gun and 2001:A Space Odyssey. It's from the director of such classics as xXx and The Fast and the Furious, and stars blind cabbie, Ray Charles (Jamie Foxx), that bird out of Blade 3 (Jessica Biel) and the mighty Josh Lucas, who was aparently in The Hulk, A Beautiful Mind, Wonderland and most impressively of all - Wing Commander III : Heart of the Tiger (I actually looked up what he was in, because I didn't recognize his name). If that cast and crew doesn't make you want to watch the film, nothing will.

Anyway, enough of these ramblings, but don't forget to cast your vote in the race for Arnie's Greatest Film...
