If you couldn't guess by my new icon, Buttercup's red riding habit is about to be in the works! I found the *perfect* fabric today at JoAnns, but I forgot my 40% off coupon, so I decided to go back next weekend. I also looked for McCall's 4172, which padawansguide suggested, but, they didn't have it, but I found it on ebay, so all is good. I bought more ( Read more... )

Yay! Liberty! I'll bring my tricorn for you, I didn't sell it with my costume but I don't need to keep it around :D Let me know if there's anything you can't figure out about the costume and I'll try to remember what I thought.

C'est magnifique!!!!

Right now, my niggest problem is a distinct lack of screencaps to look at details, I think I have the bulk of it figured out, though. Thanks a million!

Cool - one more for Buttercup!

I've been working on my muslin tonight, and for the bodice, I ended up combining the neckline of that mcCall's pattern with the empire bodice from Simplicity 4996, view C. It has a dart that is below the bust instead of by the arm - and is empire. So I made like 4 muslins to get the fit right - but I think I finally have it. Just wanted to let you know!

I forgot the new PotC will be out before DragonCon - that will be tempting I"m sure!

Excellent! I watched it again tonight, trying to take in all the detail I can. I'm so excited about the fabric I found though, it's perfect! I'll take a pic when I go back and get it next weekend, the color is just right, and the drape is nice, too. I was thinking of trying those instructions from your site to alter a dress pattern into a houpellande, but your method has merits, too.

I'm just betting there'll be a lot of cool POtC stuff there this year, I just hope Elizabeth gets a few more cool costumes! I liked the burgandy one, but none of her others were really my style : )

I forgot to mention that I'm also bringing my Jayne hat in hopes of meeting Adam Baldwin. "I have a hat....Maggie's mom made it...I love you!!"

I've got it on again right now as well! I can't figure out the skirt seams - where the heck are they? The skirt is fairly full, but it's pleated at the empire waist.

I hope Elizabeth has cool costumes too - the Plum one was really my favorite!

Cool that you're bringing your Jayne hat! LOL! That is so funny! I was such a fangirl, though I deny that I told him I loved him! :-)

Yeah, were I to actually meet Adam Baldwin, I think I'd turn into a fangirl too, lol! 'specially if he actually commented on it!

I was reading about the new contest this year, fabrications, and I was wondering if you were going to enter? I mean, I know some people just aren't into competitions, but with all the embroidery on your bespin cloak, or your picnic costume, I'd think that'd really impress a judge : )
