I *heart* sales

So, in sad news, my local Jo-Ann's is closing. *sadface* In much happier news, that means they're having a huge freakin' sale. *smileface* The week after Christmas, I went in there for some 1 inch elastic, and came out with the following;
  • 3 different widths of elastic
  • 2 spools of thred
  • 5 yards of a cool cotton/linen blend for a new chemise
  • 11 yards of eyelet trim for said chemise
  • 1 bottle of Scarlet Rit
  • 1 package of Rit color remover
  • 2 copies of two different patterns (I thought Ashton would like both of them, so I got the smaller sizes of both)
  • 1 awesome remnant of Harry Potter fleece that Ashton and I have been eyeing for a while

    all for like $20! Crazy awesome. I sewed that fleece remnant into a pillow for Ashton, since it appears her b'day present won't be here on time (I ordered her the Master Replicas Aztec Gold medallion from POTC, but it hasn't been released yet)so I'll be able to give her something on her b'day. But man, she's gonna squee when she sees that medallion. The patterns I got were McCalls's 2940 (for my Jedi outer tunic and pants) and a Simplicity pattern whose number escapes me at the moment, but it's a very basic dress pattern that I'll be using for my Rum Island shift. Oh, and I think I can, with a few modifications, use the kimono pattern from 2940 to make my quidditch robe, too. YAY! So, as if all that w00tness weren't cool enough, I went *back* to Jo-Ann's on Sunday for a thing of Fiberfill for that pillow, and ended up with the Fiberfill, more thread, and 3.5 yards of this ultra-awesome pink silky Chinese brocade. w00t! Ashton and Brittany have these cool chinese shirts in a similar fabric, but red, so I'm going to make up my jedi undertunic pattern (Lois Ericson 330) in this pink stuff and match them. Hehe, I love being a stitchwitch. The cool thing is, I had been ogling this stuff for a while, but it was $10/yd, and even when it was 30% off, I decided I'd only buy a yard and make a bag or a pillow or something, but the lady at the fabric store looked at the end of the bolt, and told me if I'd buy all three yards and save her the trouble of cutting it, she'd give it to me at 60% off. So, it was like a moral imperative. And, as if that wasn't cool enough, when I got home and took it off the bolt, I measured it, and it's actually 3.5 yds. yay! Now I'm making a matching purse, too. w00t! Gah, this has been a rather long initial post...I'm outta here.
