Susan's memorial service is over. Thank you to everyone who wrote back with kind words of comfort or what not. Probably the hardest part of the "adjustment" process is that Susan's children are all going to end up living with their fathers. Given the adversarial relationship she had with said fathers, this is not going especially well as far as said kids are concerned. It is depressing and sad on top of an already depressing and sad event. We still don't even know how she died--they are going to do an autopsy because the verdict of "natural causes" was unsatisfactory to her doctor (she was only 40).
Things are beginning to get back to normal around my house somewhat, except for the tiny fact that our kitchen flooded (a fluke--a loose pipe) and we had dozens of fans and dehumidifiers working 24/7 to make our house dry again. I am back at work, albeit with "swimmer's ear" (I don't even know how to freakin' swim! How did I get this?) and a stress-activated case of TMJ. Only a few more days until spring break, where I can bear my breasts to the world and "go wild."
