I has a SHINY!
So, the good to counterbalance yesterday's plague (in which I totally lied. I WAS better. Then worse. Then better. Then worse. It was a never-ending roller coaster of fever/not-fever hot and cold all day. bah!)
BUT! I have a shiiiiiny. Specifically, a shiny new 32GB wi-fi iPad. Which I swore I wasn't going to bother getting because I couldn't imagine what I'd use it for, but then nemukoneko mentioned using it for a digital sketchbook because there's drawing apps for it and then I couldn't get it out of my head. And now that I've got it, I can't imagine how I was getting along WITHOUT it. ZOMG! So much shiny love!! <3 <3 <3 <3
The very first app I downloaded was Sketchbook, which is like a trimmed down Photoshop 5 or so. I'm currently drawing with my fingers - I've got a Pogo stylus but it sticks and drags like a bastard when the iPad has a scratch protector on it, and like hell am I not putting a scratch shield on.
Still, not bad for big clumsy fingertip drawing, right? ^___^ I'm still trying to get the hang of Sketchbook, I have to stop and figure out where the brushes are and how to get to them and what they all do when I'm drawing in it.
The next app I fell in love with is ASKetch, which is a super simple b&w one tool sketch thing... with this awesome feathery look.
(that last one was done with the Pogo stylus - I think you can see how the lines became a lot heavier/thicker, because I had to push harder and had less control over it.)
...We won't even discuss how much I love things like the musical instrument apps - I've got everything from a piano to a celtic harp on here - or my sad face on discovering that the iPad version of Plants vs. Zombies does NOT have a zen garden. WAAAHHH! No fair. v_v I don't want new mini games, I want my zen garden! BUT! Overall, super awesome nifty thing which I've been playing with FAR too much. It's just SO damned SHINY!
