Friday, after 10 hours of work, I rushed to the airport and had to deal with the usual LAX bullshit lines and congestion. Then I found out my plane was delayed half an hour, so I didn't have to run. Then it was another half an hour. We finally left at 11:45 PM. Unfortunately, the guy in front of me had his whole row all to himself, but decided he wanted to sit in front of me and recline his seat all the way. Periodically, during the flight he got up and moved to different seats, but he'd always come back and fully recline his chair in to my kneecaps. This wore thin, but I managed to sleep for a couple hours anyway. I got off in Detroit and still managed to barely make my connecting flight to Tampa. A few hours later we landed at good ol' TPA.
My mom and brother picked me up and we had breakfast. Then I totally passed out until Allison started sending me text messages about how they had closed down the bar at Flemming's Steakhouse the night before. HA! ;-)
The old Tampa Hotel, the main UT building, was very pretty inside. I had never actually ventured in to the building before, but the Fletcher Lounge has some great turn of the century architecture, with faux-morrocan ornamentation. Back when such things were fashionable. The whole wedding really had a very sophisticated feel to it and there wasn't a detail ignored. David picked some great DJ's, and Allison's dad made some kick ass floral arrangements. I should have brought my camera, but I forgot it in LA. Hopefully I'll be able to snatch some photos from Allison's MySpace when she gets back from the honeymoon.
Zach Benjamin and Taina were there. As well as Chris Barfield and his wife. I didn't remember Chris Barfield at all until he said he remembered me, then I felt like such an ass. I never knew his name before or anything, I don't think I even talked to him before this wedding. He's a deputy for the Hillsburogh County Sherrif's department, which of course led to police stories. Zach and Taina are also doing well and they're going to move in together in Chicago, which is cool.
Then my mom made ravioli and sausage Sunday night, and my aunt and uncles came over.
Followed by another 8 hour flight that got in to LAX at 1 am. Unfortunately I couldn't fall asleep until 3.
So very, very tired... no more cross country trips in the same weekend... ever again... ouch...
