Ever since I got to see Paul McCartney live this summer, whenever I've been listening to my iPod, I've been skipping to Beatles or their solo works.

I've been a Beatles fan since I was a kid, but since I've grown up, I've been seeing their music in a much different light. It also helps that how I anchor myself in this world is through music. But part of what makes the Beatles so magical for me is that no matter how I'm feeling, they have a song that fits my mood. Whether it's being in the throes of new love, fond nostalgia, knowing about feelings that might be dangerous to have, wanting to kill people, giving hope to those stuck in bad situations, pure narcissism or sound advice on dealing with work drama, I connect to it emotionally.

It was enough that I felt compelled to pick up my guitar and play some of them myself. Blackbird will always be my show-off song, but If I Fell is quickly coming along as one to play after the show-off song. Yesterday will come after I memorize If I Fell.

status, music keeps me sane, beatlemania
