Life is continuing a-pace on this giant ball of rock, floating in space. Let's recap, shall we?
Gaming: I sometimes wonder if I'll ever want to stop gaming. The answer is almost always and emphatic "No." I'm glad The Girl knew what she was getting into from the get-go, and continues to be supportive of my hobbies. I just need to keep giving her the attention she deserves.
Earthdawn: Oh gods, it's back. And it's back with a vengeance. Two sessions in and the game is going well. The 3rd edition of the game appears to have smoothed over a lot of the issues and problems the 1st Edition had. The rules however...my gods...the book layout is so haphazard at times it takes me scouring three chapters to find the sections that cover the rule I'm trying to find. The index could be more helpful, and the book layout was seemingly inspired by the Greater Boston Street Plan. There's sometimes no real sense of why they stuck certain things where.
You don't read gaming rulebooks cover to cover, and have any chance of remembering everything you read in the order you read it. You want sections to cover everything you need to know about that specific subject. *sigh* Ah well, at least the game is fun, and Obsidian Portal is made for Earthdawn. I swear...
http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/earthdawn-the-exiled-lords Star Wars: The table top game is back. Brothers in Arms has started up again, and Order 65 is about to start it's next arc too. Sadly, Bright Future has likely "Campaign Faded". I'm just not inspired to write for it at this moment, possibly ever. Maybe losing the players that we did, when and how we did took a lot of wind out of the sails.
I look forward to the next Star Wars Legacy Era game I run, and will have to see who I can bring over to that "longshot" of a game...
I'm also getting my Fragments from the Rim blog up and running again, after a couple months of nothing. Working on porting over some abilities and ideas from D&D 4e into Saga Edition. I'm tired of my NPCs "playing by the rules" of character creation. I'm also tired of either throwing bad guys at my PCs that are 5-10 levels higher, or getting mowed down in two rounds of concentrated actions. This import of 4e rules has the potential to address that.
http://fragmentsfromtherim.blogspot.com/2011/09/matter-of-great-import.html Oh, and I'm reminded that Lumric needs to schedule the next Dawn of Defiance game. I REALLY want to see how the final battle in Chapter 10 plays out after talking about it in vague terms with GM Chris on the Order 66 Podcast.
Which brings me to...
Podcasting: This is slowly getting better and better. Fiddleback and I are having a good and successful time with the Holocron 2.0, the D20Radio Network podcast about Star Wars the Old Republic. We just did a Listener "Call in" show, that interactively went well, but technically it was a nightmare. Fiddleback just finished spending 3 hours editing the show, a task I remember all too well from my days working on All-Stop. The listener base is stable, even slowly growing, and the Guild for SWTOR looks like it's going to be a great opportunity for player interaction on a massive scale.
http://theholocron20.blogspot.com/ After we recorded the Holocron last night, Fiddleback and I popped over to the Order 66 Podcast, where we briefly talked about the announcement of TOR's release date. As a bonus; Actor and Gamemastering Guru Sam Witwer was on the show, and I got to chat with him for a little bit. That was awesome, I didn't get a chance to say more than a few words to him at Dragon*Con.
If you want to listen to a podcast about "Keeping your Campaign Fresh", with tips that can be applied to any Campaign setting, go give "Episode 145: The Plot Goo of Ecstasy" a listen. And stick around for the Post Show; Fiddleback and I got invited back (to my surprise).

The Girl: She continues to be awesome in all the colors of the rainbow, and I'm glad she's stuck around for nigh-on 7 years. Glee!
=D
That's about it...
