yuletide!

I'm off in about an hour to do a genuine Midnight Mass (prelude music starts at 11:40, my call time is 11pm, and I want to grab a beverage of some kind on the way), but because of the magic of Time Zones, Yuletide is open already and my story present is wonderful!

I said: I've always loved how brave Peter is the whole time he's in love with Harriet and she keeps turning him down. Because he is, isn't he, quite brave and stoic. But you know, lately I've also been thinking about how the whole saga of Peter and Harriet is a story about not taking no for an answer. (And yet we still root for Peter.) I'd be interested in seeing that explored a bit or a lot deeper. Other characters are always welcome.

And I got this: Benigne, by Anonymous, which is a nice little bit of Harriet realizing that her saying no to Peter isn't quite the same as her saying no to anybody else, and that that might be a bit problematic. (At least that's how it looks to me.) Thank you, Yuletide Writer, it is lovely, and I hope you enjoyed writing it!

I've also got four (at last count) mystery works waiting for me in Madness, which is out of control. It's like the old thing some families do where you get to open one present on Christmas Eve and then still have a whole stack of them on Christmas morning. (I don't think we ever did that, but it's been a long time and I may not be remembering accurately. The last few times we were all together at Christmas, we did tree presents on Christmas Eve and stocking presents on Christmas morning, but even that was several years ago.)
