- I spent, as I said, nine days Somewhere in Greater Philadelphia (that is, somewhere in Delaware County, PA, I think?) at the US Curling Association national championships. In eight of those days I watched 108 games of curling - granted, I didn't watch every single minute of every one of them, but what I'm saying is I had a solid week of being On, alert, playing attention, for 18 hours each day. (Well. Eighteen hours Saturday through Thursday, and more like twelve each Friday and Saturday.) So the fact that I was utterly falling-to-bits exhausted was not remotely surprising.
- Then I spent a lovely day (once I'd woken up and unpacked just a bit and had a gorgeous hot shower and driven over there) with the Gentleman Caller, where I admit there was a bit of dozing off because one doesn't catch up from a week of 18-hour days in one eleven-hour night. Himself was genuinely shocked and sympathetic to hear what my week had been like, and patted my hair and watched me sleep, and made some chili and we watched some Doctor Who, and it was genuinely very nice. I'm happier and happier with him. I'm not even really bracing myself for it all to go horribly wrong. I know, right?
- Today I had a good phone call with my folks (dad's latest scan showed mixed news, but the down side of the mix is something they're not freaking-out negative over, so I'm calling it okay on balance, plus he's switched to bolus feeding so he's not tethered to the hated machine anymore, plus they're coming to visit me next weekend and hear my concert), a decent meeting with my professor (who offered extra office hours to make up for the fact that I had to miss last week and this week right in a row, before the midterm next week - how awesome is this professor?), a much more difficult dental appointment than I was expecting - it was the second part of the root canal today, and it was a lot harder and longer than the second part of my first root canal, so although it didn't hurt per se, it was certainly not comfortable, and I came away with an extremely achy jaw from hours of hyperextension - and a rehearsal for my chorus, where I've maxed out my absences so even post-root-canal I had to go. Marked the whole time, for non-vocal reasons, only because opening my mouth wide enough to sing properly hurt like hell.
- I am monumentally dehydrated.
gentleman caller,
life: family (can't live with 'em ...),
are from mars,
if it be the food of love play on,
sometimes easier to be a brain in a jar,
fuck cancer,
