A/N: I have sunken into the moonsun black hole. Don't save me.
Moonbyul knows she will regret it. She just knows she will regret falling in love. It is hard not to anyway - Solar is too easy to love. Solar has the warmest smiles, and maybe that’s why she’s called Solar. Moonbyul briefly recalls Solar rapping in the car and calling herself Solar Sun. It is a fond memory that makes Moonbyul smile.
“Why are you smiling like that?”
The voice snaps Moonbyul out of her reverie and her eyes focus on Solar.
“What?” Moonbyul blinks.
“Why were you smiling like that?” Solar repeats her question.
“Like what?”
“Like a creep,” Solar laughs at her own joke and Moonbyul laughs too, hitting Solar’s shoulder in the process.
“I was thinking about you.” Moonbyul smirks and suddenly, everything is thrown into chaos because Solar squeals and unleashes a series of slaps on Moonbyul’s arm.
Whenever Moonbyul is with Solar, she forgets about everything else. It’s a bad habit that Moonbyul thinks she’s never going to kick. Their manager shushes them and points to the camera. Solar regains her composure and bows to the camera, apologizing to the viewers on v-app. Moonbyul clears her throat and apologizes too. It’s dangerous, forgetting the presence of cameras, and Moonbyul wishes she wasn’t so smitten with Solar.
They talk about random things, from Moonbyul’s web drama to Solar’s contact name on her phone. Time passes fast when she is with Solar. They’re talking about Solar’s possible future endeavours, specifically variety. Moonbyul is able to let the conversation flow, even though she’s not actually paying that much attention to it.
“Which variety show would you choose to participate in, Yongsun unnie?”
Solar makes a sign, because they’re not allowed to mention any names on camera but Moonbyul gets it.
“You won’t be able to go there. You’re too short, unnie,” Moonbyul jokes, earning a side glare from Solar. “Honestly though, Yongsun unnie’s adlibs are getting a lot better. I think she has a future in variety.”
Moonbyul only meant to sneak a glance at Solar, but she finds herself unable to look away.
“Would you do it with me?” Solar asks, and Moonbyul cannot help but think there’s a deeper meaning to the question.
“You know I can’t. I really can’t do variety.”
Moonbyul is bad at speaking and she knows it. She knows it when her air time on weekly idol is significantly shorter compared to the rest of Mamamoo. She knows it when she stutters through her words on radio shows. She knows it when she trails off while trying to come up with more content and Solar saves her by stepping in. Unlike Moonbyul, Solar is good with words. Solar is good at organizing her thoughts, wrapping things up. Moonbyul is insecure sometimes, but Solar makes it all better.
It seems like Solar sees the insecurities swimming in Moonbyul’s eyes, because Solar’s eyes soften. She smiles, small but warm - the kind that reassures you, tells you everything is okay. There is so much care and concern in Solar’s eyes, Moonbyul thinks she might just drown in them. It is times like these when Moonbyul wonders if Solar really has a soft spot for her, like what Wheein and Hwasa insists.
Solar reaches out and uses a finger to quickly brush against Moonbyul’s chin. The action takes Moonbyul by surprise and she blinks, barely registering what just happened. There’s a teasing smirk on Solar now, complemented with a mischievous glint in her eyes.
Oh.
Insecurities all gone, Moonbyul leans in slightly, tugging a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
“If you want to be greasy, this is how you should do it.”
Solar yelps and starts to hit Moonbyul’s arm again. It stings but Moonbyul only grins.
Moonbyul knows she will regret falling in love. But she thinks if it is with Solar, why not?
