thanks to LJ User Voland for posting this.  Looks like there is some discussion brewing in Congress about the Govt. taking over 401K plans and allowing the Social Security Administration to control them and dole out the money.

Yep, honestly enough, this only hit my radar because of the times on lunch i toss on the Rush Limbaugh show.. and hes been goign off about it for a few weeks now.

I just went and read that article.. and it says about the same.

There is a person espousing a gov't takeover of pensions. In your article--it talks about the idea "gaining traction" in washington, but from what I can tell, all that happened is that she testified before congress.

From all my research, I can tell you that lots of people testify before congress, but that doesn't mean that anything they testify to has any impact.

I wouldn't be concerned about this.. "concern" implies that something is actually requiring attention--and until you actually hear about some gov't person stating that this is a GOOD idea.. then it is just one idea amongst many..

So that's my deal.. As I posted to scott (and gene) myself--I think they are misrepresenting the situation... and in a way that plays to lots of "OMG THE SOCIALISTS ARE COMING!" type thoughts..
