Dear Katrina

Thank you for your Intake Form.
The Intake Team have given it some careful thought.
However there are a couple of reasons why we think it would be best not to offer you an appointment at this point in time.
The first is that as a Service we would not normally invite someone to a counselling appointment if they are already seeing a counsellor elsewhere, whether couple or individual counselling.
Another reason for not offering you an appointment at this juncture is that these look to be issues that you have seen a counsellor and attended a group within this Service for in the past and so it is difficult to know what else we could usefully add to this. These appear to be issues that would be better addressed in a Service that could offer you a longer term therapy experience.

Please do get back to us if you feel that there is some confusion.

Best Wishes

I had counselling with the Unviersity Counselling Service before my intermission. After my intermission I went to a group CBT session for a term. I really don't think that was enough. I don't even think CBT is what I need right now - even the CBT course leader said she thought what I needed was plain old counselling. I am seeing a couples counsellor with Tom right now, and while she is really amazingly great, I can't spend the time I need talking about just my issues.

I know, I know it's not what they mean, but in my current mental state, it's hard to receive this and not hear it as "you're too broken for us to fix".
