Tim stood in the doorway and smiled as he watched the four year old boy play with his building blocks. The boy had a look of deep concentration as he regarded where each block went. Often un-building what he had and coming up with a different approach.
Tim chucked softly as he watched the boy, gaining the child's interest. The blocks were all but forgotten as the boy jumped up and ran to Tim. “Papa! You're home!”
Tim easily scooped up his son and balanced him on his hip, nuzzling the top of his head as little arms wrapped around Tim's neck. “Missed you so much while I was gone Jack,” Tim said as he carried his son to the den “I got you a present while I was gone.”
Jack's green eyes lit up and started scanning the room for his present. Tim laughed and put Jack on the couch and went to his desk and brought over a book for the boy. “Thank you Papa!” Jack said as he held the book to his chest.
“You're very welcome,” Tim said as he sat down on the couch next to Jack. The little boy crawled up on Tim's lap and kissed him on the cheek. “Will you read it to me?”
“Thought you'd never ask,” Tim said. He settled Jack on his lap,stretched his legs out on the footstool in front of him, and pulled the blue throw from the back of the couch and wrapped it around them as he began to read, “The Many Adventured of Winnie the Pooh . . .”
