Selina Kyle stood on top of the skyscraper and looked out over the skyline of Gotham City. From this vantage point the city was truly beautiful with the lights of the city and the moon and stars from the heavens competing to out shine each other. You could almost forget how ugly and dangerous the city could truly be. But even the beauty of her city couldn't stop Selina from feeling beyond annoyed at the moment.
This was the last time she was going to rely on outside help.
The Claymore necklaces were breath taking beautiful, two interlocking diamond necklaces, with rubies and sapphires intertwining with the sparkling diamonds. Singly one was worth millions, having both ensured a life time of catnip. Which is why they were kept separate when not on display, taking one set off the alarms of the other and even Selina couldn't be two places at the same. So for once she asked an old acquaintance - an old friend to help out. The plan was simple they each did their part of the job and meet here at one o'clock. At 1:20 she was still waiting.
A slight stir in the breeze and a pebble kicked across the roof alerted Selina, “You're late.” She looked over her shoulder at the man dressed in a brown trench coat over light body armor walking across the rooftop toward her.
“Gambit sorry chere, ran into someone on da way here,”Gambit said with a smile as he handed her a bag that held the results of his activities of the night.
With a smile Selina took the bag and fastened it to her belt, then narrowed her eyes, it was never a good thing to run into someone when doing a job in Gotham “Who?'
Gambit gave her a one shoulder shrug, “Don' know. He was petite, black hair, wore red and black, an fought with a bo staff.”
“It was Robin, then,” Selina said with a little bit of a sigh of relief. At least Robin could be reasoned with.
“Hmm, Robin,” Gambit murmured.
Selina arched an eyebrow as Gambit practically purred as he said Robin's name. “Oh no. Absolutely not Gambit. That's one little bird that you want to stay away from.”
Gambit smiled broadly “What's da matter chere? Got plans for da petite yourself?”
Selina chuckled at the thought, “No Gambit, Robin holds no interest for me. He's much too sweet for my liking.”
“Den what's the problem?”
“The problem is that that little bird comes with a family, a very protective family.”
Gambit cocked his head to the side, “Gambit think that da petite took care of himself alright.”
Selina just shook her head at her friend, “That's not the point. He's the baby of the family, “Daddy” is possessive and has a low opinion on metas any way, he won't like it if one is sniffing around his little bird. The older brothers aren't much better.”
Gambit's red eyes sparkled brightly at the unspoken challenge of wooing Robin. “Maybe de petite wouldn't mind though?”
Selina groaned as she shook her head. “You're not going to leave this one alone are you?”
Gambit's smile widen as he gave another shrug “Dis city is big and has a lot to do. Plenty to keep a man busy no?”
Selina just continued to shake her head. This had mistake written all over it, getting involved with a bat was nothing but trouble - she should know. “You're a big boy Cajun. You don't need me to tell you what to do.”
“True chere, but Gambit always appreciates a lady's opinion.” Gambit said as he gave her a farewell hug.
“Just keep your head okay Gambit?” Selina said as she gave him a quick kiss as he hummed an affirmative and disappeared into the shadows. Things were about to get interesting in Gotham, Selina thought. If rumors were true Gambit wasn't the only one who had taken an interest in Robin. Batarangs might not be the only things that Gambit would be needing to dodge.
And this is where I shameless ask if anyone would be willing to make me a Gambit/Tim icon. In exchange I will write a fic of your choice for you
please and thank you.
