Gambit charged two cards and threw them at the retreating man, knocking him off his feet. “Monsieur, you have somet'ing I want.”
The man pulled out a gun and fired three shots driving Gambit back. “Forget it you meta freak. King Snake is offering a small fortune for these pictures of Red Robin unmasked.”
A small evil smirk danced across Gambit's features, “Dat's not a prize ya gonna ever see,” He threw two more charged cards and then rushed the man, his bo staff out and pressed against the man's throat.
“Now da memory card homme. Da reward won't do ya any good if ya dead.”
“Know a bluff when I hear one. Gotham's heroes don't kill. The Bat won't allow it.”
Gambit leaned heavier on the staff, red on black eyes glittering dangerously, “Got news for ya homme. Ah'm from outta town,”

With a flick of his wrist, the memory card appeared in Gambit's out stretched hand. “One memory card 'Wing.”
Dick picked up the card and held it up. “Thank God. I'll radio Batman let him know the good news. What happened to the perp?”
“He's gone.”
“Gone?” Dick repeated pausing in the turn he was about to make. “Gambit. You didn't . . . Tim wouldn't want . .”
“He left town. Won' be comin' back.,” Gambit interrupted with a soft growl. “Got some friends ta get him out of town. Won' be coming back.”
“Oh . . . .uh okay. Sorry I didn't mean to imply . . . except I did.” Dick said as he rubbed the back of his neck, his cheeks red with embarrassment.
“Don' sweat it. Ah've heard worse.” Gambit said shrugging.
“Still . . . I shouldn't have. . . why don't you go up and see Tim? He's been asking for you,” Dick said in an attempt to lighten the mood.
“Petit . . . Ah don' want ta disturb him,” Gambit said shaking his head.
“Gambit . . . Remy no one blames you for what happened. You saved Tim's life.” Dick said softly.
“Only after Ah put him in danger to being with,” Gambit said shaking his head.
Dick just rolled his eyes and gave the Cajun a gently push toward the stairs, “Go see him. I'm not going watch you mope and end up making Tim unhappy. Go.”
Hesitantly Remy made his way up the stairs and to Tim's room. His heart clenched as he looked at the young man. The side of his face was black and blue, under the blankets he knew Tim's ribs were heavily bandaged and his left leg broken.
Quietly Remy walked over to the bed and knelt down and took Tim's hand. “Petit . . . my Petit. Ya deserve better den some lovestruck fool mooning for ya.”
“Don't want anyone else. Not ever,” Tim quietly said as he turned his head and smiled softly. “You got it back didn't you - the memory card? I knew you would. Thank you.”
“Shouldn't be given' me no thanks. Ah was the one that lead them to ya to begin with. Ma fault they got the pictures of you wit'out your cowl to begin wit.” Remy said as he shook his head. “Almost lost ya, just because Ah missed da feel of ya hair.”
“Oh Remy,” Tim whispered, “It wasn't your fault. I didn't even know they were coming. No one had any idea Dorrance had planned this.”
Gently Remy leaned forward and kissed Tim softly. “Won't let him hurt ya. Steal ya away so he won' find ya.”
Tim let out a soft laugh, “You can't steal everything Remy.”
“Ah can too,” Remy said, for the first time in days giving a real smile. “Could steal da whole world if Ah needed ta.”
