Of Mistletoe and Snow Globes part 1

“Don't touch that,”

Clint looked from the brightly decorated Christmas tree to see Damian glaring at him with his arms crossed. “What was that Chuckles?”

Damian bristled at the teasing name and glared more. “Pennyworth and Grayson put in a great deal of time with that thing for some reason. So stay away from it.”

“Relax, kid I'm not going break any of the baubles,” Clint said.

“Tt,” Damian snorted. “You'd probably break one with your fat stubby fingers.”

Clint snatched one bright ball off the tree and twirled it around on his fingers. “I'm an archer Chuckles, I don't break anything.”

Damian snarled a bit and stalked off, no doubt to find either Dick or Alfred to yet again complain about their holiday guests.

“I think you made a friend,” Roy laughed from his place on the couch with Connor.

“Oh yeah the kid's a real sweetheart,” Clint grumbled as he threw himself down on the recliner.

“Damian is an . . . acquired taste,” Connor said with a small smile.

“I can think of someone else who's a acquired taste,” Roy grumbled, looking over at the table where Mia, Steph, and Kara was sitting with Remy.

Clint offered a smile to his friend. “Hey you had no idea Tim would invite the Cajun to stay too.”

“Don't see why he has to be here,” Roy grumbled. “Was perfectly fine without him.”

“I think Tim saw this as a holiday for people who didn't have anywhere else to go. It was very kind of him to invite him.” Connor said only to gulp at the the glare Roy shot him. “Well except for the part of him getting in the way of you and Kon are trying to seduce him.”

“We are not trying to seduce him,” Roy snapped, “We're just trying to show him that we belong together.”

“ . . . Right.”

The door to the kitchen was kicked open by Lian and she, Dick and Tim came out, each caring a tray of hot chocolate. Lian made a bee line straight for Roy. “Look Daddy! We made hot chocolate and Uncle Tim said this one was for you.”

“Tim?” Roy asked as he took a drink and smiled, “Cinnamon. Just the way I like it,” as he watched Tim.

“Maybe you're not as off the mark as you thought there Roy,” Clint offered.

Roy nodded as Lian passed out the rest of the hot chocolate “Excuse me gents, I think I'm going to grab some back up,” as he gave Lian back his mug and tousled her hair. He headed down the hallway where the bedrooms where and slipped into the room he was sharing with Kon.

“What are you still doing in here?” Roy asked plopping down on the floor next to Kon, reaching up and taking a piece of tape out of Kon's hair.

Kon shot Roy a miserable look, “Trying to wrap Tim's present. Is it considered cheating to ask Alfred to do it?”

Roy chuckled as he wrapped an arm around Kon and cuddled him close. “Don't sweat it fly boy, you could wrap it in a paper bag and I know Tim would love it.” Roy murmured as he picked up the stuffed animal in front of Kon. It was a robin dressed in a little Superboy T-shirt with an arrow on a chain around it's neck.

“It's totally dorky isn't it?” Kon sighed.

“Totally is, but so is Tim when you think about it. He still plays D&D with his pal Ives,” Roy said with a smirk.

“Come on, we've left Tim alone with the Cajun long enough, we'll worry about the gift later okay,” Roy said as he stood up and hauled Kon to his feet, pulling him closer and kissing him softly. “Lets go remind Tim we were here first.”

When they got back to the living room it was to see Tim pulling on a jacket and Dick standing before him frowning. “I don't see why Tam can't just handle it. What's the point of having an assistant if she doesn't do anything?”

Tim shot Dick a dark look. “Don't start blame Tam for this, you knew there was a chance I'd be called in.”

“You're right, I'm sorry,” Dick sighed running a hand through his hair. “But we promised Babs and Jason we'd all be there for ice skating this afternoon. It just won't be the same if you're not there too.”

“I'll be there in time to go ice skating. I just have a couple of things to take care. I promise.” Tim said as he reached out and squeezed Dick's hand.

“Abandoning Ol' Remy already Petit?” Remy asked from his place at the table.

“Not hardly,” Tim said softly, his hand seeking out Remy's. “I'll be back before you know it. Besides with the company you have now. I doubt you'll even notice I'm gone.”

“Da filles are charming oui, but dey aren't the ones to invite Remy n'est pas?” Remy husked.

“I know and I'm sorry. Really.”

“Don't worry,” Steph grinned wrapping an arm around Remy shoulders. “I'm sure Kara, Mia and I can more than keep you occupied while Tim goes to prove he's the poster boy for over achieving and having no fun.”

“Ah chere, when you put it that way how could Remy say no?”Remy laughed as Steph batted her eyes at Remy. “Better hurry up Petit, or da filles will win Remy over.”

Tim laughed as he went to go, looking over and seeing Roy and Kon. He paused for a second, looking a little lost for a second. “I got called into work . . .”

“Yeah we heard,” Kon nodded. “You going to show up later?”

“Of course. Wouldn't miss it.” Tim said, feeling a slight blush on his cheeks.

“Good, you'll owe us a lap around the rink,” Kon smiling softly as Tim nodded his agreement and turning to leave.

Tim's hand went out and shook the snow globe on his desk, making the silvery snow swirl around in the globe. “Did we get that mess up the florist taken care of?” he asked as he shuffled through some papers to find the he was looking for.

Tam rolled her eyes “Yes, though I want a bonus for having to talk to that woman. Never met anyone so . .so . .”

“Irritating, obnoxious, wants to make you pull your hair out?” Tim supplied.

“Yes! Whatever happened to the customer being right?” Tam huffed.

Tim chuckled lightly, “I'll make sure to put a note on considering other florist in the future.”

Tam sniffed and nodded. “Anyway . . why are you still here? I've got everything else handled.”

“Just making sure nothing else crops up,” Tim said in a distracted tone as he shuffled through more papers.

“Don't you have people in from out of town or something? Shouldn't you be making sure they're okay?” Tam said as she snagged some papers from Tim's hand.

“Da fille has a point Petit. Pouring over paper work ain't doing not'ing but making Remy lonely,” Remy said leaning against the doorway.

“Remy!” Tim said in surprise. “What are you doing here?” Tim asked before he reached over and shook the snow globe again.

“Wondering what kind of paper work, could possible be dat interesting,” Remy smirked as he strolled over. He smiled brilliantly at Tam as he took her hand. “Ah chere don t'ink we've met. Remy Lebou.”

Tam giggled as he kissed her hand and winked at her, “I'm . . I'm . .”

“Tam Fox,” Tim supplied, failing to hide his smile. “My outstanding and stellar assistant. Who every once in a while forgets her own name.”

Tam shot Tim a look as she rolled up the paper and hit Tim with it. “I didn't forget anything.”

“Sure Tam,” Tim teased.

Tam rolled her eyes, “I'm going to make the band knows when to show up,” She flashed a smile as Remy. “Hope to see you at the party Mr. Lebanon.”

“Ah chere, wit a pretty fille like you dere how could Remy stay away?” Remy smiled

“Promise me you'll at least leave her with some working brain cells okay?” Tim smiled softly

“For you Petit, certainly. But da chere, isn't why Remy is here - though she could keep Remy around if she wanted to. You're needed else where Petit.”

“Remy . . . I've got work. This party is my responsibility I need for everything to go smoothly,”

Remy looked at Tim for a long moment. “Dey ain't gonna just disappear just because you're hiding here Petit.”

Tim looked up wide eye and Remy sat on the edge of the desk. “A lot happened between you an' Harper an' Kent oui? You t'ink hiding from it will make it easier?”

“I - I . . . . They're together and they're happy. I just don't know where I fit in, if I even did at all,” Tim softly as he fidgeted with a paper clip and then reached for his globe, only to have Remy catch his hand and bring it up to his lips for a soft kiss.

“Not going to find out here Petit. Come on. Dere's a pair of skates waiting for you.”

Christmas music was blaring loudly as skaters glided along the ice. Shoppers from the surrounding stores sometimes wandered over to watch before going onto their next destination. The out door 'meet Santa' display had a long line of kids waiting to tell St. Nick what they wanted for Christmas. The whole skating rink and shopping plaza where it was located at practically buzzed with holiday cheer. Dick and the rest of their group had laid claim to a table, waiting for everyone to show up.

Jason walked up with a big grin on his face as he presented Barbara with a box with a big red bow on it.

Barbara raised an eyebrow as she looked up at her boyfriend, “What is it?”

“Just gonna have to open it to find out Babsy,” Jason smirked.

That only got Barbara's eyebrow to raise higher as she took off the lid of the box to find a dozen chili dogs. “Oh these are just perfect,” she laughed.

“Yeah . . real romantic of you there Jay,” Steph said with a crinkled up nose.

“Don't knock it, till ya tried it sister,” Jason said as he claimed a seat next to Barbara, wrapping his arm around her shoulders and grabbed one of the chili dogs out of the box for himself. “Just so you know, this is only part one of Babsy's gift. Part two is tonight when I take her out to the Blue Moon for dinner tonight.”

“The Blue Moon? That place is booked solid for the next year! It's impossible to get in there!” Steph said.

“What do ya know, the ol' Wayne name is good for something after all,” Jason smirked. “And before ya ask, the reservation is only for two.”

Steph humphed as she settled back against Kara, “Like I'd want to watch you make googly eyes at Babs all night.”

“Don't worry Steph,” Kara nuzzled her cheek. “I think we can come up with something to do.”

Damian made gagging noises at that and stood up. “This is getting truly sickening. Ice skating sounds less aggravating by the second,” He put on his skates and quickly put as much distance between himself and his family, as the table erupted into laughter and Jason and Steph high- fived.

“Well Damian does have a point. Come on Lian, lets catch up to Damian and see if he wants to race,” Dick said, whisking her out on the ice.

Kon shifted in his seat and scanned the plaza and bit his lip as he saw no sign of Tim.

“Don't worry, he promised he'd come,” Roy as he wrapped an arm around Kon's waist. “And there he is,” the frown in his voice clear to hear as a horse drawn carriage pulled up and Remy helped Tim out of the blankets that covered them and out of the carriage.

“Oh how romantic,” Steph cooed as Roy and Kon glared at her. “Uh . . .lets go skating Bluebird,” she said as she pulled Kara after her.

Mia hid a smile as she got up, “Don't worry Roy, Remy owes me some roasted peanuts. Think I'll go collect.”

Mia went over and greeted the two new comers, wrapping her arms around Remy's as they walked off towards the food stand. “Why does he owe her peanuts?” Roy groused

“Who cares, here comes Tim,” Kon said as he got up. “You're late.”

“Yeah I am, sorry about that,” Tim said as he got closer. “Next time I'm letting Alfred throw the party.”

“Good idea, should have done that from the start,” Jason snarked.

“Well live and learn,” Tim shrugged. “Are those chili dogs?”

“Babsy's chili dogs,” Jason's corrected.

“Jay there's enough to share,” Barbara said rolling her eyes.

Roy rolled his eyes. “Don't worry. Your little declaration of love is safe. There's a hot dog stand on the other side of the rink. We'll go over there for ours.”

Jason bristled as the others laughed and the boys pulled on their skates and stepped out onto the ice. Tim immediately did a little spin followed by a figure eight.

“Oh you little show off,” Roy laughed as he held Kon up by an arm. One of Kon's skates slipped under him and clung to Roy.

“Okay, I'm just going to float. This isn't worth me breaking my neck,” Kon whined.

“You can't do that, there's too many people,” Tim laughed.

“I'll just tell them I'm Superboy.” Kon said as he slipped again and it was only due to both Roy and Tim holding him up, that he didn't fall.

“And why would Superboy be in Gotham?” Roy asked.

“Just chillin' for the holidays,”

“And Superboy, where are you staying while you're in Gotham?” Tim asked taking the tone of a reporter.

“At the Wayne penthouse?” Kon said uncertainly.

“With the Wayne family?” Roy asked with a devilish grin, “and how did you become friends with the Waynes?”

“Is your friendship with them proof that they have close ties to the super hero community?” Tim asked with a grin of his own.

“Is one or all of the Waynes vigilantes?”

“Is Damian Wayne Batgirl?”

“Okay! Okay! I get it me breaking my neck is better than floating!” Kon said waving the arm that was holding onto Tim around, then immediately clung to him again.

“Aw you wouldn't break your neck, you're invulnerable remember?” Roy chuckled. “You'll just look really really stupid as you fall down.”

“Oh thanks so much,” Kon said dryly. “You're concern for my safety is really heart warming.”

“For you, anything Fly Boy.”

By that time they had made it to the far side of the rink, helping Kon along slowly and poking fun all the way. Tim steered them toward some benches. “You guys take a break. I'll get the dogs,” he said as he headed to get in line.

Roy sat down and stretched his legs out, smiling happily. “This is great! It couldn't have gone better if we tried.”

“Well thanks Roy. You're a real sweetheart,” Kon grumped.

“Come Kon, your ego can take it,” Roy said bumping his shoulder against Kon's. “We're all together, laughing, joking, Tim's not pulling away. It's perfect!”

“Okay I'll give ya that, but what next? We can't keep him out here on the ice forever.”

“Don't worry. I got an idea.” Roy said watching Tim.

* * * *

Red Robin weaved his Ducati through the downtown traffic as he followed after the bank robbers. A bullet pinged against the side of his bike which only made him glare more and increased his speed. Cars honked their horns and swerved out of the way from the deadly high speed chase. Red Robin gritted his teeth, every time he tried to get the other car to pull over or stop, it would just dive further in traffic. It was only a matter of time before someone got seriously hurt.

Suddenly the car lifted in the air and soared up over the crowed street. Red Robin saw Superboy holding the car above and the roar of a familiar motorcycle pulled up along side him. “So what do you say about taking this party somewhere a little more private?” Red Arrow called over the radio head set they both used.

Red Robin nodded and followed Red Arrow as he peeled away from the heavier traffic and headed toward quieter streets.

Superboy hand landed the car in an alleyway, the bank robbers were yelling and randomly shooting their guns out the windows, and throwing themselves against the car doors trying to get free from the car that was - at the moment - enveloped in Superboy's TTK.

“Now they don't seem very happy,” Red Arrow said conversationally as he pulled up.

“Maybe we should do something about that,” Red Robin mused.

Arrow smirked and nodded, “Cut them lose Superboy,” he said as got off his bike, already reaching for his bow, he looked over at Robin and saw that he already had his bo staff out and extended. Superboy dropped his TTK and all the car doors seemed to bang open at the same time.

Red Robin leaped over the car, knocking down one gunmen, while Red Arrow shot off arrows, disarming the men. Superboy watch his two partner's backs, making sure no one got the jump on them. It didn't take long to subdue them, zip tie them and call the authorities.

At the first sign of the wail of the sirens, Kon wrapped an arm around both Roy and Tim and headed up to the rooftops.”Well that was fun,” he said chuckling.

“What are you guys doing here?” Tim asked looking them both.

“You didn't think a house full of super heroes wouldn't notice you sneaking out to go on patrol now did you?” Roy smirked. “Thought we'd give ya a hand . . . it's been a while since the three of us did stuff like this.”

Tim turned and looked out over the city, “Yeah it's been awhile . . .”

And uncomfortable silence fell over the three, each lost in their own thoughts for a moment. “We miss you Tim. It's not the same without you.”

“Roy . . .”

“He's right Tim.” Kon over rode him. “It's not . . . there was a time . . .we don't . .” he floundered, ending up rubbing the back of his neck.

Roy smiled affectionately at Kon squeezing his shoulder. “You want to go to the Wayne Enterprises' black and white ball with us?”

“What?!” Tim asked in surprise.

“What?” Kon echoed.

Roy stepped over and pushed back Tim's cowl. A look of sincerity on his face as he cupped his cheek. “This is what we want Tim. What we've always wanted.”

“You're together, you too - together.” Tim said lamely.

“Yeah we are. We're also crazy about you, and we, Kon and I, really think we can make this work. The three of us together, it would be outstanding.”Roy's voice soft and sincere, with a note of almost pleading to it.

Kon's tone matched Roy's as he took a step closer to Tim. “We're not yanking your chain here Tim. We mean it. Come to the party with us.”

“Please Tim,” Roy whispered.

Tim just looked at them both, biting his lip as emotions flickered from one to another across his face as his fingertips brushing against Kon's. “Okay,” he whispered. “It'll be fun. I can't wait.”

Kon beamed and hugged Tim, laughing into his neck. “I knew it. I knew you'd say yes . . . well I was hoping.”

Tim chuckled as he leaned against Kon “I expect to be picked up on time.”

“Don't worry we'll be there,” Roy smiled.

Tim said a quick good-by to the two, promising to meet up with them after the rest of his patrol and convincing them that it would be easier to let him finish on his own. Tim swung over to Wayne Towers, easily opened the window to his office and slipped inside. He couldn't help the smile on his face as he thought of Roy and Kon. How long he had wanted them, thinking they had found happiness with each other and finding out that there was a chance of them all to be together. He shut the window behind him and turned to walk deeper into the office, only to pause as he couldn't remember why he needed to be here.

He was on patrol he thought. He had met up with . . . . some one he had thought, they had talked and Tim had been pleased - hadn't he?

Tim frowned as he tried to remember what he had been doing when a silvery light caught his attention. Tim looked up and the snow globe on his desk was glowing with a faint glow. Tim's face lost all expression as he pushed back his cowl and walked over and picked the snow globe up. He swirled the globe around making the glittery snow swirl around as Tim's eyes reflected the silver sparkle.

A disebodied voice from the globe hummed with almost a happy note to it. “Ah my song bird. It is amusing watching everyone run around you, hang on you, as if any of them matter at all. They're grasping at a gold ring, not knowing it's already been claimed. I give you until the night of your party. Then you will heed my call and come to my side.”

Tim did nothing more than hold the globe, letting the glow surround and infuse him.
