After another failed attempt to get home to his own world, Tim took refuge in the Avengers' gym. He spent the whole day losing himself in his work out, ending up on the archery range to vent out the last of his frustration.
A whistle from behind him caused him to pause. He looked over his shoulder to see Clint standing behind him, holding a bottle of water. “Damn kid, how come you didn't tell me you could shoot?”
Tim lowered his bow, “It's not something I do all the time.”
“Too bad,” Clint mused, “It would be nice to have a chance to beat you at something.”
A sly smile graced Tim's face. “What makes you think you could beat me?”
Clint threw back his head and laughed. “That's what I like about you Tim, cute and cocky.”
Tim's smile slid off his face and shoot the arrow he had drawn. “Not feeling too cocky right now.”
“Yeah, Cap told me what happened this morning. Don't worry about it Tim, we'll figure it out. I promise,” Clint said as he took the bow from Tim's hands and handed him the bottle of water and steered him to the benches. “Come on Tim, you look like you're about to drop.”
“I'm fine,” Tim protested, but he took the water with a nod of thanks. He grabbed his towel and mopped his face off and draped it around his neck. “I just can't believe it didn't work this time. I thought I had everything figured out.”
Clint suddenly reached out and grabbed both ends of the towel around Tm's neck and pulled him close and kissed him hard. When the kiss ended Tim looked up at him confused. “ . . . Why?”
“Because . . . you will find a way home, and I wanted to make sure I got at least one of the things on my list done before then.” Clint said, his eyes never leaving Tim's face.
“You have a list?”
“Yeah, a very long list . . . .give me a day, let me see what else I can cross off. Then I'll give you a day and we'll find a way to get you home.” Clint asked softly.
“Okay.”
