Next Gen is not the Best Gen

Lately I've found that I'm just not interested in the current/next gen of video games with the exception of the DS as it seems to me that the video game industry as taken a dive. the consoles all have their own flaws and the PC market is far too consumed by Microsoft, which is a problem in and of itself, and god awful DRM in order to prevent piracy ( Read more... )

It does seem that the game market has stagnated and that the hardware has become less and less trustworthy. I haven't been excited by a console game in years, and even PC games are losing their appeal. The DRM issues are becoming ridiculous, and the performance decreases with each new game generation. Games are too poorly tested, and either need patches to become playable or will be abandoned by their manufacturers still incomplete.

And to top it all off, the price just keeps going up, while the handhelds have kept a steady price throughout.

Yes, and I notice that ratio of price vs. playable time has gotten worse. I do agree that the handhelds have kept their value, although I have to admit that the small footprint is tough on my hands.

Original DS no problem, it's about the only thing that fits nicely in my hands. I blame DLC for drop in play time, it's just representative of one of the main problems of the game industry in releasing junk that fanboys will buy to give them a nice profit to start and then they fix it, or expect the community to.
