Finally feel like updating. Guess it's more movie reviews for me. Saw "Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amelie Poulain" and "The Shawshank Redemption" lately both of which are probably the best movies I've ever seen (at least in recent memory). Some profoundly touching moments. (SPOILERS INCOMING)
I really love the attention to details and the various habits of all the characters in "Amelie." For instance how she picks up skipping stones throughout the whole film, or how the love interest is collecting fragments of pictures, or how the grocery boy loves his vegatables. And the little moments like how Amelie smiles at the grocery boy despite him getting yelled at by his oaf of a boss, and the various other ways Amelie brings happiness into the lives of other people. But I feel the best part is really the end when Nino shows up at Amelie's apartment and they don't even need any words. There's just a silent understanding. It felt like one of those "perfect" moments to me.
On the other end is "The Shawshank Redemption" which is, quite simply, an amazing film. Go see it. I found it profoundly inspiring. I mean it's about a man who is convicted of the murder of his wife and her lover in cold-blood. He spends 19 years in prison and during his time there does great things for the misfit immates of the prison (despite enduring much brutality). Yet at the end of it he escapes and, in the words of Mr. Andy Defrane himself, becomes living proof that "Hope is a good thing. And no good thing ever dies." I was pretty watery eyed by the end of it.
Anyway... I'll stop with my sentimental wishywashy for now... just go and watch those films if you already haven't.
Incidently I've also come to terms with some long standing hang ups that I've been carrying around the past couple of years. As a result I think a level up is in order. For my bonus feat I pick "Thick Skin" additional stat points will go into Wisdom. Or maybe I'll just put it into something fun like Dexterity or Charisma.
Huzzah!
