Well, if I have to start with a bit of a proud moment this year, it might as well be a musical one.

Today we had a day with one of my orchestras, where everyone was invited to play a bit of music: alone, in a duet or small group. I did a piece with a trombone quartet called "A Song for Japan".

It's a piece that was written in remembrance of the tsunami disaster that happened there a few years ago.

It went rather well, so that's something to be proud of. Although, I know I can and perhaps should play it even better, but all in all I think we gave a good performance.

But something that also made me a bit proud, maybe even more so, was something I did last week. Also has to do with music, but more with talking about it. It was with the same orchestra, but during the annual meeting thingie we have with it. You know, where they report on how things went in the previous year and what the ideas are for the coming year.

At the end of the meeting there's a chance for people to ask questions. So I took the opportunity to state what the current level of music is I get to play and said I need something better. Or well, that's roughly the summary I can type here. But I am proud of it, because it's something that's been bugging me for years. And now everyone knows my opinion about it......and hopefully that's a first step into getting some more interesting music.

....who knows..... :-)
