Today he dances Jazz...

…and no - he will not sell his motherland tomorrow. Tomorrow (this day has already become the day before yesterday in respect to the event being described) I will praise him in my livejournal.

Some time ago
aynippa  offered me to visit a dancing performance in “Modern” theatre. And there was only one dance of the evening - jazz. I agreed. Partly because I’ve never seen jazz dancing in person (and I like new things and experiences), partly because never before I was disappointed by
aynippa ’s choice. I hope that the same’s true for her.

Anyway - the day has come and we went to the theatre. Our way I think does not worth description and yet I will say that my eyes and internal sense of direction were superior to her experience and map memory. That is why we have found the place in time.

The theatre itself… not too young in looks, not too bright. Very “warm” and quieting. If you know what I mean. So my first impression of the place was positive.

Performance itself didn't move me a lot at first. But it was developing gradually and finally got my attention completely. I always liked dancing and I greatly value, I enjoy good dancers. In this company there was one hopefully. He was definitely the star of the evening. Even when he was not dancing solo it was easy to feel his superiority. Fluent moves, flawless musicalness. Definitely he is a gifted person. And that is good. Because, actually when you watch some performance you do not see or enjoy people. You observe and enjoy gifts.

I don't want to describe the performance. Actually I simply cannot do this. According to all definitions jazz is improvisation. Improvisation is emotion. And trying to describe emotions is too tricky.  What I want to tell is that you can listen to jazz records or watch video records of jazz dances as long as you want. But first time you see or hear it LIVE - you understand that this is the only possible way of understanding Jazz.

Thanks to
aynippa  for this evening.

P.S. I have my own Audrey now. My own cross-stitched Audrey Hepburn. This was a late and totally unexpected birthday gift from
aynippa . And for that she has my special thanks.
