Snowflake Challenge: Days 1 & 2

Jan 02, 2015 23:46

Very well, I’ll bite on doing this Snowflake Challenge, although I didn’t know about it until I already have to catch up by a day. But hopefully it will give me a good excuse to get back into the posting habit.

Day 1: In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator.

Seeing Red (Bill/Hermione) - I still have no idea what inspired this fic really: I just sat down and wrote it, which is very unusual for me. I usually ponder a plot bunny for a LONG TIME and finally it demands to be written. Plus I really want the shoes.

Quiet Time (Katie Bell/ Oliver Wood) - A drabble, really, but this gets to what is to me the heart of a relationship - the ability, and desire, to be with one another any time, all the time, even when you’re not doing anything really, just being together. I just like it.

Reflection (Cho/??; Cho/Cedric) - Perhaps not the best named fic, but I even make myself tear up when I re-read this. With the prompt, I couldn’t help but think about a yellow rose, which is my favorite flower, and the rest just came to me. Writing this made me really like Cho a lot more than I did from reading GOF.

A Winter’s Day (Severus/Hermione) - I’ll always like this one a bit more than I should, it’s my first fanfic, and while I see cringeworthy points in it now, I really still love the premise, which was one of those plot bunnies that ran around my head for about 6 months before I finally let it out on paper.

Day 2

In your own space, create a list of at least three fannish things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a fannish wish-list of sorts. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your wish-list if you feel comfortable doing so. Maybe someone will grant a wish. Check out other people's posts. Maybe you will grant a wish. If any wishes are granted, we'd love it if you link them to this post.

As everyone else is saying, this one is really hard. I want to ask the world, and yet I don’t know what’s worth using my list on… I actually thought this said list 5, so that’s what I came up with. Then I re-read this and saw it only asked for 3. Well, you get 5!

  1. More high quality, recent, canon compliant fic (or recommendations to them, if they’re out there!) - I have read and re-read the same set of fic over, and over, and over. (For example: Sage, Leap of Faith, Ordinary People, The Paradigm Of Uncertainty, Survivors, A Choice of Roads, Looking for Magic etc...) I love those fic. They were compliant at the time, even if not now, and I want that same feeling of discovery - of finding an amazing, long, involved fic that takes me a whole weekend to read, but makes me feel something. I don’t know how to describe it, just I like them, a whole lot.

  2. Writing time so I can write my outlined fic - have several ready to write. They’re awesome. I can’t tell you how much I love the ideas of them. I want to read them. So I need time to write them. Or somehow to just download my brain to someone who does have writing time. (Fully plotted and outlined are multi-chaptered fic for: 3 Draco/Hermione, 2 Severus/Hermione, 1 Rose/Scorpius, 1 crossover Ginny/ Adam Carter from Spooks).

  3. The fangirl_tour (or something like it) to have another round - I loved learning about new fic, and new fandoms, and have solid recommendations that I knew I would enjoy reading and discovering. It was one of my favorite things in fandom for a couple years!

  4. More travelog fic -- like Grey Tuesdays by floorcoaster. That is totally one of those fics I have read over and over again, I have to say I even picked one of my vacation stops from the fic (the breakfast spot in Vernazza). I love travel, I love travel reading, and I love fic. I want to get more travel bugs and ideas from reading fic!

  5. To discover more fic from fandoms I dabble in - Firefly, Bend it Like Beckham, Torchwood, heck, even Star Trek. I spend most of my time reading Harry Potter fic, with a bit of Veronica Mars on the side, but really, I like a lot of other fandoms just as much.
