Personal Fail 2009

May 21, 2009 18:42

In the interest of maintaining a theme, let us take another step back into from the world at large and into the world of self. Forget for a moment the problems of society, the corporate greed, the cookie cutter politicians. Forget the people we ignore in our own communities. Let us look at ourselves.

I am by no means a perfect individual. I am only moderately self-enlightened. I do not have all the answers. But I also don't have the pride of thinking I do. If I am wrong, I can admit it.

But let us talk about what really gets me. Above all others! The thought of personal entitlement. By luck of location of birth (nationality) we have regressed from a nation of achievers to a nation of whiners. I deserve this, I deserve that. No you don't. You don't deserve jack crap other than the basic consideration that I give any human.

I have seen person after person CHOOSE not to improve their lot in life because they are afraid of change. CHOOSING to remain in poverty or near poverty because that is more comfortable than the risk of changing your life to make it more comfortable.

Now I want to point out an important difference here, I am not talking about those that choose to live at those levels for various reasons (good works, community building, third world nation outreaches) (I will get to you in a moment).

You have lost your right to bitch, you are living in the most mobile society on the face of the planet, at the 2nd most mobile time in history. Up your ass and move to where the jobs are. What is more important the friends who really don't want you around because you are broke and jobless or the opportunity to fix both those issues? But hey it is just my federal and state taxes paying for those food stamps and unemployment checks (I have every right to be bitter).

For those that choose to go into career that keeps them in near poverty conditions, kudos to you, I applaud you, but don't pull the holier than thou. It was entertaining the first time around. But your job is no more, nor less important than any other job. We are all individual cogs in the great machine of the world economy.

Those of you that think you are entitled to some form of government handout. You know what, shut your pie hole. You think that you deserve a hand out and a permanent check for the rest of your life for a medical condition that may or may not exist, or an injury that is just that incapacitating? How about retraining? I notice you have absolutely no problems surfing the internet. Guess what, here is your job in data entry. Push the button get the treat George. There are plenty of things you could be doing that would improve society, but no that is just to much effort. It is easier to whine about the injustices rather than correcting them, starting with yourself. What a concept. In my dictionary that would be what we like to call a Hypocrite.

If only I was dictator. The tax problems fixed. You will work for that government check. Oh yeah.... Death sentence federally mandated and sponsored, save some real money.
