ABILITY FAIL 2009
So here it is ladies and gentlemen, the second public post of this journal.
Over the last couple of months, there has been this big movement called Race Fail 2009. Screw that. I say go for something that really means something, lets run with this.
ABILITY FAIL!
It has been over 50 years since the fall of seperate but equal. It has been over 100 years since women were given the right to vote. Does equality still have a long way to go? In principal? Yes.
But consider this. I give everyone the respect they deserve as a HUMAN regardless of race, creed, sex or sexual orientation. But do I treat everyone equally? No I don't. I am not a racist, I am not a sexist, I am not a homophobe. I am an Abilitist.
I will judge you based on your abilities and skills. If I need open heart surgery, do I care that the surgeon is black, female, jewish? Hell no. I care how good they, what there success rate is, how familiar they are with the procedure that I need. If I have to go to court, do I care what color my attorney is, what is/ or is not hanging between their legs, who they sleep with or who they worship? No I care about how well they know they know the law as it applies to my case. When I listen to music do I care where the artist grew up? No I care about the music and if it speaks to me.
So now for your dose of hypocrisy!
Women you want to be treated as equals, get your own door. Don't expect me to get it because you have tits. If I do, it isn't because of the mammaries, it is because I respect you.

How about this, unless you were emancipated, put down your chip, stop worrying about the past and look to the future. Christ on a crutch with chlamydia give it up. Well you would be wrong. I have known those things. But I was raised better than that. I was taught self-discipline, I was taught to educate myself. I was taught to listen to those around me regardless of abstract societal notions and judge them on the merit of their conversations or arguments.
So if I cross the street, when I see a black man, is it racism or is it practical experience that I have experienced 1 mugging and 2 attempted muggings in my life, both at the hands of People of Color (snort). Is it fair? Hell no it isn't, I should not judge the person walking towards me because of what three ignorant black asses did to me. I should judge him on his own merits. But will you return the favor? F*ck no you won't.
You will continue to judge me on surface findings, such as the color of my skin and the fact that I need a jock strap. Here is the welcome mat of ignorance.
I respect my wife. In fact I married my wife because I respect her. Yes I love her as well, but the respect came first. Is it because some people oppress women and she feels she has an entitlement because of that? No, it isn't. I respect her for her intelligence. I respect her for HOW she uses her education. I respect her for her follow through. Do I respect her because of the color of her skin? No.
So instead of giving people special opportunities because mom and dad didn't pay enough attention to them as a child, or gave them a PS3 to play instead of TEACHING them. Lets give those that have achieved something the respect they deserve.
Show me, by your actions that you are worth my respect. Show me by your drive and ability that you are worth my time.
Show me an act of discrimination and I will protest it. Just like I will protest all those scholarships for women only. Or people of color only. Or people of mongolian-jewish-left handed descent.
