The tricky wording here is the post-canon bit. Part of me wants to say yes, I'd consider it AU, but because it's set after the show it's harder to define it as AU because so long as everything that happened in canon still happened and things diverged after the show ended I'd say it'd probably not count as AU.

I have no idea if that makes sense...sorry if it doesn't.

No it definitely does. Under their definition, John Sheppard would always stay at the same rank, he would always live on Atlantis with Rodney who would be in a relationship with, but never married to, Jennifer Keller, and they'd be living on Atlantis in San Francisco Harbor. Because that's how the show ended.

Seriously.

Like...it's like they're saying time stops the minute the show does. Which I guess in a sense it does, but the show ending does not preclude more things happening. As long as the events in a post-series fic are compliant with the canon that does exist, I'd say it shouldn't be considered AU.
