Nicked this from
kittycrystal (and Kisa... I have no trouble believing you are a caramel macchiato ;) )

btw, I am soooo an espresso! :)

I recently traveled to Kansas City to do a weekend youth retreat. When I arrived at the airport I made my way directly to the coffee shop. I had avoided drinking any before the flight for reasons that may become obvious with a bit of thought. Anyway, their house coffee was a mild something or other and they had no dark roast of anything brewing. So, with a smile on my face I asked for a large of that weak house stuff with a double shot of espresso, please. :) The manager came over to help (I think the young man waiting on me was in training) and asked if I'd like for them to leave room for cream. "Um, no, thanks" was my reply. He then said one of the most shocking things I've ever heard from a coffee shop and/or pseudo-barista..... "ugh, how can you drink that!?"

I just smiled in response, but I was thinking, "isn't your business DEPENDANT upon me drinking it?" I mean, this was a national chain of a coffee shop... one you've been to and would have no problem recognizing. I found it quite humorous the longer I thought about it and eventually came to the conclusion that perhaps both were in training. They make it strong like that in South America and all you have to ask for is coffee. My theory is that people in the USA don't really LIKE the taste of coffee. They add so much stuff to it in what must be a desperate attempt to make it taste like something other than coffee. I like my coffee, thank you very much, and BLACK while you're at it. The stronger the better. I want to KNOW I've had a cup of coffee.

It isn't really a caffeine issue. I don't get that much of a charge out of it anymore (as some of you may already suspect). I just enjoy the taste of strong dark coffee. Is that so wrong? PITCH BLACK COFFEE DRINKERS OF THE WORLD, UNITE!

So anyway, I am still alive. My little Princess will be 4 in a couple weeks... and life pretty much goes on as it should. The rain still falls on the just and the unjust, but I've been given a dandy umbrella. "The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him" Nahum 1:7
