I've started a new journal where i'm joining in the excellent alternative reality game world without oil. It follows a world where peak oil has occurred (more than 50% of all oil has been discovered) and oil prices are rapidly rising. Every day in May is a new week of the story and people from all across the world are encouraged to make journal posts, movies, pictures and audio to tell what happens, mediated by the front page of the site.
It's week 8. oil prices are at $4.70 in America. I decided a few days ago to create a character, Mia, to tell the part of the story I wanted to hear. If anyone's interested, you can read her story at miawithoutoil. I hope to update most days whilst the game is going on, reacting to events in the game and hopefully crafting a story arc for mia and her family within it.
I've also got exams and the story for the Aberrant Dreams anthology to edit so it's going to be tough to write every day for this, but it's a lot of fun so we'll see.
