On bombs and conspiracies

I'll admit I have my doubts on some things governements say. I disagree with Israel's massacre of the Lebanese including the huge oil spill ruining the coast following the bombing of a power station. I think the electoral system in the US is flawed and possibly corrupted. I'm not sure the entire story of how 9/11 happened will ever come out.

But some of the stuff being said today is ridiculous. All across the internet I'm seeing people saying that the Met closing Heathrow and gatwick, making everyone carry only wallets and passports onto the plane for fear of ten planes being blown up by liquid explosives, people are saying this is a publicity stunt. WTF?

Admittedly, the UK government shot an innocent man on the tube last year amidst the chaos of July. Yes, there have been times they've arrested people but haven't found the evidence to back them up. The US and to certain effect the Uk plays with people's fear on the Terror alert status, and they manipulated evidence to go to war with Iraq.

manipulating opinion and evidence is HUGELY different to making up a huge terrorist event purely to draw attention away from other events. People who say that this is all a diversion to distract people from Lebanon or Lamont's (superb) primary victory over Lieberman are frankly insane.

I think both the US and UK goverments are a little too close to 1984 and are far too easy to give up their citizen's rights. I think the economy is shafted for most people my age and when the housing bubble bursts a lot of people will struggle to pay back their equity loans. I doubt I'll be able to buy a house when I graduate, they're too expensive.

But all this talk of the government closing the airports etc to scare the public and distract them is just stupid. the government may be influential but they are still people and that kind of conspiracy never survives without being leaked. 9/11 happened. 7/7 happened. And just becuase this one looks to have been prevented by good work by the anti-terrorist police, people are saying it's a political stunt. I ask you this. Would you prefer tha 3000 people in ten planes had been blown up?

The levels to which this kind of conspiracy theory has risen is ridiculous.

At least I'm writing. I've added 2000 words to the novel in the last two days. I'm also looking for readers now to help me polish it. If anyone would like to take a look at the first 52,000 words of Iridescence and Light then I would appreciate it and be more than happy to return the favour.

iridescence and light, readers wanted, conspiracy nutjobs
