Goodbye to a friend
Happy Anti-Valentine's Day...
My buddy's dad passed away this afternoon. Not a surprise. We've expected it for a couple of weeks now.
Carl was a great man. He inspired us with his humor, his lust for life even when he's legally blind and can barely walk, and his drinking prowess.
When paying a tab, Carl would say, "There's more where that went."
When paying his part of the check, Carl would say, "I've got money I haven't spent yet!"
When toasting, Carl would say, "Drink now or forever hold your peace."
He got our jokes. He made jokes that honestly made us laugh. He was friendly, happy, and alive.
