i hate the sydney football club with every ounce of strength and resolve in my body. they play the most degenerative, pathetic, reductionary, gutless brand of football i have ever witnessed and are a disgrace to the afl. in fact i would go as far as to say they have the worst attitude of any professional sporting team i have ever seen play.
so the reigning premiers managed to waste the last 10 minutes of a 90-minute game and hold off last year's bottom side by 7 points, and then carried on like they had won another flag after the game. one sydney player actually said it was good to see his team 'digging deep.' fucking pathetic. actually mate, 'digging deep' is the bottom team taking on a virtually unassailable style of football and nearly winning.
but on a matter that is not so wholly consumed by personal prejudices: the afl has changed every other rule in the game to stop time wasting. yet they still allow teams to chip the ball twenty metres at a time around their defensive 50 for minutes on end, with no short time period in between kicks. what's the story? at least players like brednan fevola and matthew lloyd are lining up shots on goal, and, y'know, trying to ADVANCE THE GAME in some way.
