take dead aim on the rich boys

i have this phobia of intruding on people, even when i'm in competition with them. i'm just not ruthless enough. i don't know where i'm going with this.

over the last week there have been three seperate cases of teenagers torturing kittens. putting them in bags, throwing them against walls, riding bikes over them, all that kind of stuff. to these putrid gutless individuals i have this to say: you are going straight to hell for abusing some of the most beautiful creatures in the world, and you are among the worst exponents of the human race ever. you fuckers.

moving on. summer television gets worse and worse. the utter tripe that passes for 'entertainment' offends my intelligence on the most basic level. dancing with the 'stars'? shouldn't this mean that there are famous people on it? (not that i'm interested in seeing people dance any more than i normally would be just cause they're celebrities...) but seriously. nikki webster? i'll bet the IOC's collective face is red for having her sing at our olympic opening ceremony four years ago. i think dancing with the stars is one of her first public appearances SINCE then. i wonder how much her agents paid (bribed?) channel 7 to get her on the show. also. wife swap? what kind of society do we live in? if you like these kinds of shows, i don't like you.

on a more positive note, the australian open has been pretty awesome this year. but it's true, i only care(d) about two players: lleyton hewitt and alicia molik.

alicia molik is my hero; she's the first australian woman in the top ten for god knows how long, and she was THIS CLOSE to beating lindsay davenport yesterday. if you are a sports fan, i'm sure you already know the details, so i won't repeat them here. but it's a huge effort for such an undersung girl with so much pressure put on her, and i mean, when the score in the final set is 9-7, surely it's unfair to separate the two players at all. anyway. she's now in the top 10 in the world, and all that stands between her and the number 1 are like eight brainless russian chicks.

as for lleyton...COME ON!!! two marathon five-set matches in a row...it's so awesome. what a hero. if you are a sportsman, you could all learn something about determination and passion from lleyton hewitt. i don't think it would be completely unfair to say that any other player would have given up if they were in lleyton's position. i don't understand people who don't like his 'on-court antics' (catch phrase of the week). what's wrong with getting fired up when your opponent makes a mistake? the saying goes 'you can only play as well as your opponent lets you'. unfortunately for nalbandian (who was a seriously ungracious loser and moped around the court for the entire match, bar the hour he was winning), hewitt just outplayed him. if you look carefully, you will notice that he only does it on BIG POINTS. important points. and EVERY OTHER PLAYER does exactly the same thing. just because lleyton is 'louder' about it, doesn't make it malicious at all, or any less sportmanlike. he never bad-mouths his opponents, even when provoked, nor does he smash shit on court (nalbandian broke a racquet during the match). he is just a serious competitor. besides. PUT YOUR MONEY WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS, and beat him if you think you're good enough. you're probably not. until then, however he chooses to play is up to him and beyond (y)our judgement.

so all that was very fitting on australia day. something to do with the day we became our own country, i'm not exactly sure, they tend not to ram it home very hard. for a country as lackluster in the teaching of its own history, we're pretty patriotic. i was watching my dvds of the dream a couple of days ago, when they tallied up our medals at the athens olympics 'if australia had the population of the USA', haha. i don't remember the exact figures, but you probably don't want to know anyway. i worked from 7:30am till 5:00pm and i am still so tired i could...fall asleep on the couch. today i woke up 2 minutes before i was supposed to be at work, haha. only four more 7:30am starts to go!

i bought some becks beers, i'm pretty confident they are the best beers ever. at my pub we sell local beers (on tap) for $3.50, but imported beers like becks and heineken (also on tap) for $3.60...duh! give me the imported shit! anyway so i'm obsessed with becks, it's awesome.

the list of movies i want to see/own on dvd is growing at a steady pace. i got the royal tenenbaums and bottle rocket delivered today, go me.

edit: the worst thing in the world is making a HUGE bowl of salad, then realising your parents took the caesar dressing.
