Just a few more hours before I've completed my 42nd trip around the sun.
The world has changed quite a bit in the last 42 years...
Music delivery has gone from LPs to 78's to audiocassettes to 8-tracks (then back to audiocassettes), then to CD's then MP3s and now everything is heading toward network streaming.
We've gone from manual typewriters to the IBM Selectric, to the personal computer, to the portable word processor, to the luggable portable computer, to the laptop, notebook, the PDA and smartphone.
Document Printers have gone from manual typesetting to chain-printing, to image-wheel lithographic typsetting to daisy-wheel to dot-matrix, to thermal transfer, to laser printing, to inkjet printing, to color laser printing.
We've gone from using sliderules for higher mathematics, to the wristwatch calculator (I had one when I was 12), to the HP pocket Calculator, to the pocket computer, to the PDA and smartphone.
We've gone from Black&white television to color television to digital television to high-definition television.
One last note: I share my birthday with Tom Hanks, Donald Rumsfeld, Dean Koontz, Jimmy Smits, Fred Savage, and OJ Simpson.
