I don't take much stock in it. He said what needed to be said, and what was expected to be said in today's political climate. I never expected the entire country to do a 180-degree at 12:00:01, but it's pretty obvious from the rest of the speech that there will be changes, even if they take some time. I can appreciate his tempering Obamamania with a little splash of cold reality that there's a LOT of stuff that needs fixing, and it'll take time to do it.
I also expect Stewart to be funny at all times. :)
I stopped watching the Daily Show about 4 years ago when the only topic became how to bash President Bush... and he took pride in distorting facts in a way that I found NOT to be particularly funny.
Now that he has only the current administration to make fun of, he's probably going to be worth watching again. ;)
Yeah, but his new audience will have trouble finding him, because they've been alienated for years, and his current audience will turn on him like nobody's business.
Well, this was an easy speech for [TDS] to make a joke about, because any president's inauguration speech is going to be fairly general and based on what the majority of the people want to hear. I, honestly, don't take a lot of stock in speeches. I'll be more interested to see what comes out of his actual work and how it affects this country
