Pre-meeting banter before a particular SciFi group's meeting:

"So he asked me, 'Why is it that the only people stepping up to help [with our convention] are from Southern California and Canada?' and I answered him 'well, Seattle *is* the home of grunge and the birth of the slacker movement.'"
