I got home last night around 11:00, threw on my PJs and jumped into bed with the TV on. My plan was to stay up and watch a bit of SNL, but instead I got sucked into the best infomercial ever.
Tony Orlando was pitching
Romancing the 70s from TimeLife. Growing up in a household whose family radio rarely strayed from KCTC (those who live in Sacramento should know this was the "soft music that makes you feel good" station) and my folks loved all of these songs. So I'm laying in bed, listening to 5-second snippets from Anne Murray, Neil Sedaka, Bread, BJ Thomas, and a host of other 70s crooners that I grew up listening to. I was thisclose to calling the number on the screen and ordering the entire set ... until I remembered I have like a wedding and stuff to save up for.
I did find it on ebay for 30% off, plus free shipping.
How much would YOU pay for 138 romantic classics from your favorite 70s artists??
Wait, don't answer. I suspect most don't share my affinity for the Captain and Tennille or for somebody-done-somebody-wrong-songs.
