Happy New Year!!
It's been a while, again, I'm so lazy when it comes to writing anything on my journal.
So, as usual, I'm going to post some photos of my latest purchases. I'm still waiting for some of them to arrive, but for now I'll post the ones that are already here. I'm really excited because a few months ago a spanish publishing company licensed Seven days by Takarai Rihito and Doukyuusei by Nakamura Asumiko and, of course, I had to buy them immediately, and thanks to that I found a comic store owned by two really nice guys. They had a lot of cool stuff, even Star Trek merchandise that you can't find anywhere (at least in Spain, where Star Trek is not really popular).
First things first, Japanese editions:
- Ten Count by Takarai Rihito: OMG! I'm dying to buy the third volume and see how their relationship develops (even if it has some problematic stuff, I can more or less overlook it all).
- Konbini-kun by Junko: I know it's licensed in english but it was out of stock before I could buy it, I don't really mind because I love japanese editions and it makes me want to work harder to learn japanese. ^^
- Super Lovers by Abe Miyuki: I bought the first voulme and the next two are on their way. I love this series.
Second, english editions:
- Awkward Silence by Takanaga Hinako: like I mentioned last time, I bought the second volume and plan to buy the rest of the series.
- Apple and Honey by Hideyoshico: I love this mangaka, I was going to buy all her mangas in japanese but this one got licensed so I went ahead and bought this one and preordered it's sequel. I'll buy the rest of her works in japanese (I loved Udagawachou de Mattete yo).
And finally the spanish editions by Tomodomo:
Seven Days by Takarai Rihito and Doukyuusei by Nakamura Asumiko; I absolutely loved the edition of the books, everything is translated and edited to perfection, the quality of the books and paper is superb.
The only drawback I found, which was totally my fault, was the super informal speech they used in the translation (in Doukyuusei's case), I guess they were trying to mimic the way teenagers speak nowadays. Since I have never used that kind of language (not even as a teenager) and it's been some years since I stopped being a teenager, I found the translations to be a bit weird. But if you get used to the language or you use it yourself, it's definitely going to sound pretty natural. It's a very good translation. :)
I finally dared to buy digital manga:
- The Scent of Apple Blossoms by Kawai Toko
- Sword and Mist by Kuku Hayate
- Sweet Monster by Mikage Tsubaki
- Devil's Honey by Natsume Isaku
- How's Your Ex? by Tateno Makoto
- Egoistic Blue by Tennouji Mio
- Perfect Training by Aniya Yuiji
I think I bought a few more but I can't remember which ones and I'm too lazy to look it up. :P
The other day I had a kind of awkward moment, my mom was curious about all the books I always buy and how I sometimes sit in the hallway in front of my bookcases picking up books, reading a few pages and then putting them back where they were, over and over again. So she asked me what kind of books they were and just as I was going to hand her some manga by Hayakawa Nojiko (because they don't have sex scenes) she picked up one of the most explicit mangas I own: Elektel Delusion, and then another one by Fujitani Youko. She skimmed through the pages (sex scenes included) and said: "soooo, you are studying anatomy, huh?", and then returned the books to me and left. And now, from time to time when a book arrives in the mail, she asks "Is that a book about love and kisses?". XD I didn't expect less from my mom (and my sister, her reaction was similar when she saw my BL collection).
