The road we shared...

some random moment of writing...

The road we share,
I walk with you
and the weather is fair,
and the company good,
yet we know not,
the road ahead.

When nights test our faith,
when days strain our eyes,
when water runs dry,
I hear you say:
"Hold tight my dear,
there's always hope here."

On this road we share,
we walk hand in hand,
stretching our legs,
far across this land.
We know not our end.

And all along this road,
lie forests and mountain lairs,
inside waterfalls hide fairy-tales,
of monstrous sharks and windy gales.
Can you see them there?

When you're without me, I wonder:
do you still know your way?
Are you willingly with me,
do you feel just the same?

Some nights when I can't sleep,
you're a million miles away,
holding tight to your dreams,
Living other lives, or so it seems.
A million roads away.

Hold tight my dear,
there's a fork in the road here,
We've got one last chance,
make it good, make it last,
for this is the end I fear.

.....

Many days turn to nights,
and months into years.
Where did time go my dear,
where are you now my friend?
It feels so alone, here at the end.

Yet I am still smiling,
Sleeping deeply at night,
singing softly to the dawn.
Letting water run through me,
because my hope is my own.

You're not who I needed,
I'm not who you believed in,
we're all but defeated...
on a long enough time line,
all roads must end.
