1. Conservative = fine. Christian Conservative = also fine. But why is Conservative + Christian + SANE becoming so hard to find? If I were a republican, I'd be so embarrassed by the amount of CRAP that's being thrown.
Example: According to Sarah Palin, it's completely acceptable to lie and lie badly and transparently in public to a camera, and just blame some fictional 'liberal media' when you get called on it. Why? And why do so many conservatives put up with it and support it just because she spouts a socially conservative agenda?
What, being socially conservative and claiming that socially conservative behavior is more 'moral' and calling it 'supporting family values' magically makes you ethical no matter how unethical you are?
I always liked the old joke "I believe in the sanctity of marriage and so does my wife! So do my two previous wives and do does my mistress!"
2. (Related to 1) Disagree with Obama! There's plenty to disagree with! I don't support him blindly. I have problems with him too and don't support everything he's done. BUT FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE! He's not an Nazi. He's not a terrorist. He's not a communist. His heath care plan is flawed. It's not an elaborate plot to murder senior citizens with death panels! GET OVER IT, PEOPLE!
Criticize him! Sure! BUT CAN WE PLEASE DEBATE HIM LIKE INTELLIGENT, SANE ADULTS!? PLEASE!
3. If you live in America, and you are a Christian, you are NOT being persecuted. You're just not. Sorry. Deal with your lack of martyrdom like an adult.
Employers asking employees to use the term "holidays" instead of "Christmas" within a secular workplace to include all holidays celebrated (including Christmas) is NOT persecution.
Working to make a court system that does not show preference to any one given religion, even if it's in the majority, is NOT persecution.
Standing up against legal endorsement of one religion's preferred standards of social behavior by the government is NOT persecution.
If you yourself choose to ban all school clubs, or ban all symbols of religious expression because you can't bring yourself to allow school clubs you don't agree with or religious symbols that you don't jive with your religion, it's not the mean old liberals making you shut down your clubs and hide your crosses. And, it's NOT persecution.
Please learn this and learn to cope with it. I know you're still the majority and have been the only religion in America that's been taken seriously for 300+ years, so working to level the playing field must be hard for you. But really, put on your big-girl panties and big-girl cross necklaces and deal with it.
Oh, and if you're so offended by people of other beliefs that you refuse to attend a work sensitivity training that stresses the importance of being able to work with gay people and people of other religions, you got fired because you failed to attend a mandatory work training. Please don't say you were fired because you were a Christian.
That's just stupid.
