The thunder storm woke me up around 4:30 this morning. After some exceptional thunder and lightning I heard a pop off in the distance, which I assume was the transformer blowing. Then I realized my alarm clock wasn't lit up anymore. Power outage. I set the alarm on my phone and went back to sleep.
I got ready for work in my window-less bathroom by the light of a battery operated camping lantern. I took the quickest shower I could manage since my hot water heater is electric and I had no idea how long the hot water would last. And since my stove is also electric I took my oatmeal to work and cooked it in the microwave there.
For some reason only my building lost power. When I went out to my car to go to work I saw that the buildings across the parrking lot all had power. Weird.
All this reminds me of
Blackout 2003. Although, that was worse. Three days with no power, and no water because even the sewage treatment plant didn't have power. We had to use my mom's Y2K stockpile of water to flush the toilet.
