dear argieline,
you are amazing.
there's no question in my mind that you deserved best (of!) show.
i'm not being biased (even though i guess i am a little, since we are BFF and all) - but your painting drew me in so much more than everything else there..even though there were some other truly incredible pieces in the show! i don't think people were gathered around your piece just because of the ribbon. i think they were just so fascinated and intrigued by your compelling work, and needed to have a closer look.
when i saw the "green dress painting" on your lj, i immediately liked it..but once i saw it in its presentation glory hanging on the wall at JU, i was seriously blown away. you were absolutely right that it needed to be experienced in person. i've watched how your work has changed over the past several years, and after seeing all three of your pieces in the show, i can really see how you have blossomed (lol.) your talent has always amazed me, but tonight i saw in your work what emerges from someone who has dedicated her whole life and spirit into creating what could only be described as an extraordinary representation of your passionate soul. i only hope (and am sure) that others have seen this in you and your art, because you deserve that just as much as your pretty purple ribbon.
so, congratulations! i am so unbelievably happy for you and proud to know such a wonderfully talented artist :)
.com x forever,
stephanie
p.s. if you don't know argie and her work, you should. go to the juried student show at JU before december 5 (because you MUST see this painting up close and personal) and check it out here:
