Ok, so my cat is completely and totally bizarre. He was found on Haight St. when he was but a wee kitten, so he's always had a wild side. He's very friendly, especially to strangers and men, only to turn around and bite your hand off if you pet him a fraction of a second longer than he wanted you to. He still bites me occasionally, only for me to scold him and refuse to give him any more attention (which I'm sure really gets to him...not at all). However, every time he does something bad, scratches or bites me, and he's had time to cool off, he comes back to me and gives me the sweetest nose butts and cuddles, as if to say, "I sorry mommy. U still luvs me?"
And then there are the quirks...
He fetches. He has since he was a baby. Anything that makes a sound at all is his favorite, whether it be a small wad of paper, a ball of tinfoil, or a jingle cat toy. If you crumple up paper in front of him he thinks it's a toy, and immediately gets into his ready stance, which includes the widest and wildest eyes you have ever seen and a low to the ground crouch. And if you throw any of the above mentioned items he takes off like a bullet from a gun, only to pick up said item and bring it back to you in his mouth. He drops it at your feet and waits for you to throw it again. If you haven't caught on that you are supposed to throw it for him again, he will let you know by a) mewing, b) picking it up and dropping it again, maybe a little closer this time, c) rubbing his nose on your foot, or d) picking it up and dropping it in your lap or directly on your hand. And he will play this game until he is literally panting, which usually takes about a half an hour (less if you are in a position to throw his "toy" down the stairs, which requires a lot more leg work on his part).
Speaking of things that make noise...he will find a piece of paper or plastic bag and paw at it while either staring at a nondescript spot slightly to the side of the noise making item or looking directly at you. And he will not stop pawing until you acknowledge his presence. And even then he will continue to paw if he is in an especially obnoxious mood.
He has a little blue bed, which he has had since I have had him (shown below). He will ignore this bed, not lay in it, and avoid it like the plague for literally years at a time. But every once in a blue moon he decides that this bed is his favorite thing in his miniature world and will literally drag it around with him, set it down where he would like to sleep, and curl up in it. At the moment that spot is on the floor next to my chair. Yesterday it was in my bathroom, and this morning it was strategically placed next to my bedroom door so he had a clear view of my entire room and the hallway outside.
