A Trio Suite: On the Flip Side
Tenri Cultural Institute of New York
July 14, 2006
(New York, NY - June 26, 2006) Artistic director and composer, Teresa Wimmer presents A Trio Suite: On the Flip Side, at Tenri Cultural Institute, 43A W. 13th Street, NYC on Friday, July 14 at 8 PM.
A Trio Suite: On the Flip Side explores through movement, text, original music and soundscape, a walk through a gallery where a collage of people are on exhibit rather than the art. Three different choreographers, Emma Cotter, Caron Eule, and Rebecca Whitehurst, have created the work in collaboration with composers, sOo-jung kae, Teresa Wimmer, and soundscape designer, Paul Geluso. The performers create a series of slice-of-life scenes that can be compared to a silent movie or a painting coming to life, parading a wide range of characters from a Victorian woman who loves Chopin to James Bond 007 girls taking on the universe. The culminating effect is that of a surreal landscape in which beauty, desire, and intense individuality must make way for cohabitating in a common space.
A Trio Suite: On the Flip Side includes a photography exhibit by Rafil Kroll-Zaida featuring photos from India specifically Bollywood rehearsal studios and movie sets.
Musicians for the performance are Catherine Bent, Michael Fennelly, Bill Kalinkos,
and Ursel Schlicht. Dancers for the performance are Tatyana Branham, Cornelius Brown, Emma Cotter,Caron Eule, Stephanie Hasiotis, Kimberly Lantz, Cynthia Ohanian, Alexa Weir, Rebecca Whitehurst, and Heather Wollin.
