I am SO unimpressed with Rogers right now! UGH!
I was calling them today simply to give them Dave's cellphone number for them to contact us at tonight when the tech comes to hook up our phone/tv/net at the new place. I was transferred to 5 different people before I even got to the right department, and THEN the woman had to put me on hold for 10 minutes, only to come back on the line to tell me that she wouldn't be able to put any notes on the account because of a computer system crash at the center. FUCK. How goddamn annoying.

Anyway, last night Dave and I moved our old apartment into our new apartment in 5 hours flat. All by ourselves! I even helped move the big, clunky couch! We were both majorly hurtin' after we finished, walking around like crippled old men (I was a little worried that my back was going to flare up again) but once it was done (we finished around 10:30) we were soooo happy!

We were under a ton of pressure because what happened was this: Dave and I decided to move in to the apartment down the hall and upgrade from our 1 bdrm to a 2 bdrm with a balcony. We worked this out with the landlord in the last week of August and we were supposed to be able to move during the last week of September and start our new tenancy October 1st.

Some other lady on a different floor separated from her husband in mid-September and decided she wanted to move into the place we were moving out of. Our moving day kept getting pushed back because the owner was supposed to be renovating our new apt so we were like ok, cool, whatever. THEN we find out from the landlord that they had actually been working on a different unit most of the month, and the owner didn't even start working much on our place until the last week of September! So we were frustrated but whatever. We had planned on moving in this past Sunday, October 5th (!!!) because Dave and I were both 100% free all day, so it would have been a very convenient day for us to move. But then, NOPE. Couldn't move in until Monday because the owner was putting the finishing touches on the place. ARGH. Dave and I both worked until 4 on Monday and then we had to haul ass when we got home because we really wanted to try and be done most of the moving that night. Turns out we had no choice but to get it all done because the lady moving into our place was breathing down our necks asking us when we'd be done because she wanted to move in THAT SAME NIGHT. I was like, ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!?! Good luck, broad! I told her that we were not even allowed to start moving until that day and both Dave and I had to work all day, and the whole time I'm just thinking, "can you seriously NOT wait until tomorrow?" As if it was OUR fault we were still in the place. Plus I explained to her that I hadn't been able to clean over the weekend because of my back so I had planned on cleaning up the place after our stuff was moved out. But nope, she just wanted in, didn't give a fuck about our plans. Whatever bitch, fine, I'm not cleaning shit for you then! Not two hours later the landlord comes by while Dave and I are busting our fucking asses and sweating, and asks us if the lady can start moving her stuff in while we move out. We were both SO fucking irritated and pissed off (and rightfully so, I think), but in the end we ended up finishing at 10:30 and being under pressure to get out almost, ALMOST kind of helped.

So yeah! We're all moved in! It's a total mess right now, of course, but everything is in there, which is what really matters. And now we are in a place together that is OURS, equally, and it's amazing and lovely and we have way more space and I am just so happy with it. I didn't plan on moving out of my other apartment for a really long time because I love love loved it, but then Dave moved in in June, this 2 bdrm came up literally down the hall and the situation was perfect so we took advantage of it. The new place is like, everything I loved about the other place only better and all of the things I hated about the other place (namely the kitchen/bathroom floors) are fixed because there is brand new gorgeous tile all over the place! So happy. So happy it's DONE with, finally, too. We are not moving again until we buy a house.

Now it's time for a house-warming party! :)
