I just realized that I'm not currently reading anything. Wtf!? That's so unlike me! I need a new book. Hm. I don't know if there's anything I own that I haven't read yet. I'll have to peruse my bookshelf tonight.
Dave and I just went to go check out that two-bedroom that we're moving into (it's literally down the hall from our current place). It doesn't have a dining room like I thought it did. The OTHER one we looked at a couple months ago did, but it didn't have a balcony. Anyway, so the apartment is a little different than ours... wasn't sure I liked it at first because it's in disrepair right now. The floors are all torn up and the landlords haven't painted it yet. I think it will look really good when they fix it up though. They have been putting in all new stuff into all of the apartments; they were in the middle of putting brand new ceramic tile in the kitchen and bathroom. I voiced concern over a few things in the place that I noticed, such as the fact that the kitchen counter is old and ugly, the bathroom doesn't have the same nice sink unit my current apartment has, nor does it have a medicine cabinet like mine. I think by me bringing that stuff up, my landlord will mention stuff to the owner and make sure it all gets done over. Apparently the previous tenant lived there since the 90s so they haven't been able to put all new stuff in like the other apartments in our building (my place was completely redone before I moved in last fall).
So we'll see. I was kind of underwhelmed, but again, I saw it in a state of shit, so I'm thinking I'll be pleasantly surprised. We get to move in nearer to October 1st. It's sweet too, because since the apartment is just at the end of the hall, we won't even have to pack or anything; we can just move the apartment over, room by room! PLUS! The apartment is in the back corner of the building. Hello, peace and quiet! From other people, that is; I tend to play my music at pretty generous volumes.
I can't wait to have our band room all set up! (aka the second bedroom)
We might put a little futon in there because some of friends like to crash at our place after partying, but the main thing we're going to do is put a table in there with Dave's laptop (aka our music-maker), and the keyboard, all of the guitars and pedals and mixers and whatever other musical things we have. That way, when we go in there, it's like "okay, time to write music!" Everything will be set-up all the time, which will be nice, and the living room won't be so freaking cluttered anymore.
OH! And the main thing, other than me thinking there was a dining room and there not being one, that I was not too excited about is: the kitchen... because of where the doorway/wall is in that apartment, the counter is a little further down the wall than mine. This doesn't leave enough room at the end of the kitchen for my dining table/chairs. GROWL. I think what I'll have to do is store my dining table at my mom's in the basement until Dave and I buy a house, and just get a new, smaller set. We're thinking this one:
because it's compact and will fit in the new kitchen, plus I love the 70s vibe it's givin' me! I want to do the kitchen up with a 70s kitschy vibe anyway (turquoises, browns, oranges, yellows) with all of my tiki and Elvis stuff, so that table is a tiny piece of purr-fect.
I also want to get a little 2-person bistro set for the balcony, and a new tv stand.
I like this one from Sears:
I'm just so stoked that we finally have a place to store our bikes that ISN'T the side of our living room.
Sorry, I know, boring stuff! hehe.
