My night ended up getting a little better. It kind of makes me sad that getting drunk and high makes my problems evaporate temporarily, but after all, isn't that what that stuff is for? :/
Kevin Kane (from The Grapes of Wrath) played at the bar tonight and it was so dead. I literally had three paying customers. So I ended up sitting in the back with Lou and Carolyna most of the night, and then a bunch of us moved into the back room and got shitty. Another one of the reasons I love work. I can go there totally depressed and suicidal and then hang out with people that I love and who love me and all is better in my world for at least a few hours.
I came home and talked with Chris for awhile tonight, too, which I haven't done forever. I haven't seen or talked to him since Matt's birthday in October. So that cheered me up.
All I can listen to these days is The Black Keys. I love Dan Auerback's voice and guitar playing so much I could just die listening to him. His solo album is incredible, too. One of my favourite albums of 2009!
Ps. I was just going through these old recordings I made a couple of years ago where I recorded harmonies on some Elliot Smith songs, just right over top of the song. It's weird, our voices really compliment each other extremely well. It's too bad he's not still alive. Maybe we could sing together :)
