New year's was so good. Big party at This Ain't Hollywood. I got up on stage and sang "White Punks On Dope" with Lynn and Lou and The One Night Stands. I got pleasingly drunk on other people's dimes, somehow (I never intend for this to happen, it just always seems to...). Super fun crowd. It didn't get quite as busy as we expected it to get, but it doesn't matter because everyone who was there had an amazing time and that's all that matters!
Here are a bunch of photos from the night (by both Dave and I).

I have a photo job tomorrow (today?) with Lynn and Kerrie of Blackbird Studios, to shoot a few outfits for their upcoming Spring/Summer 2010 catalogue. It's in Toronto; we're using Lou and Lynn's rowing club on the lakeshore as studio for the day. Should be a pretty fun day - Lynn mentioned having cocktails after the shoot, plus the model is a girl (acquaintance/friend of friends) who approached me previously about modeling for a project I'm planning that promises to be a tad R/X-rated but on the artistic side, of course... Anyway, it'll be nice to shoot her in a normal studio-style setting first, to gauge our chemistry and whatnot, and for me to get an idea of how she photographs. I'm hoping to set a date with her tomorrow for shooting the R-rated stuff.
I'm pretty happy with myself. It just became 2010 two days ago and I've already got three jobs/shoots lined up for January. I've just got to keep the momentum going, keep focused and motivated, build build build, connect connect connect...
Still though, a bit nervous for tomorrow, just because I haven't really done any studio photography for at least a year and I have barely had time to get acquainted with the new Nikon, so I'm kind of going in feeling a bit renegade-style (oh PLUS, my fucking tripod is broken. Grooooan). HOWEVER, one awesome thing I noticed is that my Vivitar strobe works perfectly with the new camera, whereas with my old Canon, it was sort of touch-and-go. I never really figured out why the two never really worked well together, but I've been testing out my strobe with the Nikon for the past half hour or so and they seem to work in perfect harmony. So THAT'S a big plus for this shoot. Now if I could only go buy some new white bulbs for my lights beforehand... Damn you, last minute photoshoot! :(
