chilly hamilton nights

The legendary Robert Gordon played at my bar/work last night, backed by The Royal Crowns. What a fun show. The place was packed, the music was great, lots of great faces showed up... and Darlene slapped/got in a fight with a dickhead! Haha. This stupid prick who I see there all the time was majorly hassling me earlier on in the night and when I tried telling him I had a boyfriend he started insulting him telling me that Dave was "a loser" and that I should be with him (the drunken idiot) because he's "the real fuckin' deal." Yeah, sorry, I've got no room in my life for 40 year old drunk neo-nazi douchebags. Sorry 'bout your luck. Anyway, so the guy was apparently causing trouble all night, threw a shooter in Kathy (one of the bartenders)'s face, and got kicked out. Well somehow he got back in (gee, do you think it's because we have no real bouncers at the bar?) and started causing more trouble, so I go inside and see Darlene (my friend/bartender there - but she was off-duty last night) screaming at him and Lou (one of my bosses) in between them trying to keep the peace. The guy was calling her a "cunt" and a "whore" and all of this shit, so she slapped him really hard in the face. I'm actually surprised she didn't punch him out - Darlene is tough as nails. Anyway, the guy and his loser friend (who was a major racist) got thrown out and I guess none of the bartenders are serving him ever again. Goody, so it's my job when he comes to the door to tell him that he's not wanted here/he's not really allowed back in/no one is going to serve him. Hurray, can't wait for that night... :/

After the show Darlene, Andrea and I were chillin' out max and relaxin' all cool (haha) on the stage with the drummer from the Royal Crowns, Teddy. Really sweet dude; VERY short, very high pompadour. Darlene and I decided that we wanted to keep partying back at her place. Lou, Carolyna (a local singer here in Hamilton) and Gordie Lewis (guitar player for Teenage Head) came with us, and we all went to Darlene's place for chili, drinks and doobies. Pretty fun night all in all. I got home around 5 am and pretty much went straight to bed.

For some reason today (and lately) I kind of miss working at my old store (I used to manage a sex shop in London). As miserable as I was there for different reasons, there were a lot of things I loved about that place, the main one being that I loved the satisfaction I got from helping people out with their sex lives and also helping a lot of women discover their sexuality through toys and porn. It was really rewarding, just because of how important that stuff is to me.
It's probably also because I haven't gotten a real job (I don't consider working at the bar a real job because I only work for a few hours per night, maybe four times a week) since I left that place in February. I think I miss having a reason to get up in the morning, I miss the feeling of having a store to run, and customers to help, and obviously I miss the pay. But in reality, I would never want to work there ever again. It was a blessing in disguise, that I got laid off because I had wanted to quit for awhile and always talked about it but I just was too comfortable that I couldn't bring myself to leave.

I've been in a Nine Inch Nails kind of mood today, and yesterday. Weird how my 13 year old self creeps up in me sometimes. God I used to worship that freaking band. I have a few of their more recent albums but to be honest I really don't like them. I'm all about classic NIN through and through. When they hit that surge of renewed radio popularity a few years back I just couldn't get into it. They didn't feel like the same band I adored, that I plastered all over my walls and binders in grades 8 + 9. They didn't have that same oozing sexuality and sadism. It seemed like a completely different band. I guess I just don't like Trent Reznor sober.

Edit:
Lasha just asked me to be her date for the Hamilton Music Awards on Sunday. Dressy attire. I gotta go out and buy a new dress tomorrow! This should be good. Two screamin' betties causing trouble at an awards show. Haha heehee hoohoo.

Some pictures?

Some xmas cards we've gotten in the past two days. The one on the left is from one of the regulars at work. That's him sitting on the bar toilet. Hahaha.

Our crooked xmas tree, not lit up. That's my blackberry drying out on the heater because Lou dumped beer all over it last night by accident, and it's defective right now. I hope it Frankensteins back to life.

Bunnicula rubs her face against anything and everything she possibly can.

Bruiser takin' 'er nice and sleazy.
